Daily Camera: Bzdelik Tells Players He Does Not Have Offer From Wake Forest
Talk about an up and down ride with this situation where multiple sources are saying a deal between Bzdelik and Wake Forest is done but both the Wake Forest AD Ron Wellman and Jeff Bzdelik have said no deal is in place yet. I still think Bzdelik will not be in Boulder next year but either way, this situation was not handled very well by both sides.
The American Chronicle reported that Bzdelik was having second thoughts about leaving Colorado but they are now reporting Bzdelik will be flying back with Wake Forest AD Ron Wellman Sunday night to be formally interviewed for the job which will be finalized Monday.
Jeff Bzdelik met with players of the Colorado men's basketball team on Sunday.
The CU coach is expected to be leaving Boulder for a head coaching job at Wake Forest and numerous reports have described the situation as a "done deal."
Bzdelik met briefly with the Camera on Sunday and said he had nothing to announce at this time.
Bzdelik said he told the players that there is no offer from Wake Forest.
On Friday, Bzdelik's name surfaced as Wake Forest's top choice to replace Dino Gaudio, who was fired last Wednesday.
The Buffs went 36-58 in three seasons under Bzdelik, whose daughter, Courtney, attends Wake Forest. Bzdelik also has worked in the past with Wake Forest athletic director Ron Wellman.

"Handled badly by both sides"---WTF?
What “both sides” is your anti-Bohn/biased ass talking about?
It could only be the Wake AD --who fired a perfectly good coach (61-31, two NCAAs in three yrs. # 8-ranked recruiting class for ’10) and turns around only to try and hire an old friend (w/o checking with CU) and Bz himself, who appears to have jumped the shark! Bohn was out of town, hustling up some cash, when this unforeseen little play is dropped in his lap rom out of the blue.
What should Bohn have done, o wise sage? Kicking Bz in the goanies would have the right, if non-PC, thing to do, but the world of college athletics is small and the word “blackball” is still operative.
Bohn might have himself a little positive cashflow, courtesy Wake and Bz, after the way they both screwed the pooch—-interference with a contract, on top of the $500K Bz buy-out anyone?
More in reference to Bzdelik, not Bohn
Wellman is really putting Bzdelik in a tough position for sure.

I'd like to keep Bz just to see what this team can do but...
To me, the guy seems like a total flake. Yeah, he can coach but we have now dealt with him potentially leaving after every season he has been here. He obviously is not committed to CU, so, even with the strides our team has made, perhaps we would be better off without the uncertainty after every season? We need a big guy badly and Bz should be out recruiting instead of doing this bs to CU every year. Just my opinion…

Valid points
It ticked me off when Bz left Air Force so abruptly, and again, I agree, every year it seems like he has one foot out the door. I would like to see him stay and see if he could build a program that matters, it is hard to say how good a coach is or isn’t when they are leaving every 3 years.
On that thought, I would wonder if we may be able to convince Larry Brown to come back to Colorado if Bz leaves. I think he may like the oppurtunity to be a true teacher again, be in a state he loves, and get to rebuild a program that really has had no long term success. Oh to dream.
