Cody's Post game comments
Did anyone see Cody's post game comments?
Some of my favorite quotes:
"There are a lot of people out there talking and a lot of people who say different stuff," Cody Hawkins said. "But the same bad things you say about our football team, I'm saying the same bad things about you guys (the media). So I guess it works both ways."
"As a captain and as a leader on this football team, when everybody is trying to drink that negative Kool-aid, you just have to make sure they stay hydrated with the right stuff."
I'm to a point that I am just numb...when will this nightmare end...

This nightmare will end a few days after Nebraska gives Dan Hawkins the last L in his coaching career.
Unless CU has Hawkin’s replacement lined up to start the moment he is fired, it makes no sense to bring in an interim coach.
I hate Dan Hawkins so much.
Josh McDaniel's Broncos are 10-12. He holds a career .454 winning percentage. We better freaking destroy the sorry as ever Raiders.
Cody
His father put him in an absolutely impossible spot to succeed and made him an easy target/scapegoat for his old man’s poor coaching. I can’t feel bad for either of them because they went into this as completely willing participants. The fact that neither of them were able to see this train wreck coming tells you all you need to know about both of them. I imagine we won’t see either hanging around the program or the Denver/Boulder area in the coming years the way so many other ex-CU players do.
The old man should've known better
Cody was just an 18-yo kid. Everyone Talkins asked said “Don’t do it man”. But he did it anyway, screwing his kid in the process. Hey, thanks Dad!
That said, they sure seem to share the same stubborn, tone-deaf to reality traits.

cody let it go.
Maybe mom and dad should step up and quit putting this kid into bad situations and keep him from trying to save dads job. you are not a couple of plays away and there is nothing to cinch up you guys are a very poorly coached team who can not make halftime adjustments. we are going to lose a couple of good coaches in ambrose and prince who can recruit and have pro experience which will help young athletes.
Another sad sunday.
very well said
I couldn’t agree more. If they didn’t have the vision to see that the undersized and weak armed son wasn’t being put in a horrible spot I don’t have much sympathy. Image- cleaned, Program- wrecked. Are the Regents pleased?

“I’m a college student, so I don’t have enough money to buy a newspaper,” Cody Hawkins said. “Which is probably a good thing.”
sorry not buying it when all the buffzone articles are also published in the ColoradoDaily which is FREE in every building on campus.
or he could read them online on one of the thousands of computers on campus
oh, and his dad is a multi-millionaire.
whatever, he’s just trying to be combative. Like NYC said he certainly has been put in a tough spot and I understand and respect that he wants to stick up for his family, but it’s all their fault. He never should of come to play here and his dad should never of recruited him to play here (think Cody wishes he was QB at Boise right now?). The one thing I would always say in the past about Cody and Dan is that while I didn’t like them as a QB or a coach they seemed like decent people, but both of them have acted like such jerks this year. Obviously the pressure is getting to them but Cody can’t seriously be all bent out of shape that his dad is getting criticized. He’s a public figure, a state employee, he’s getting tons of money, and he’s absolutely sucking at his job. Hell yes he deserves to be criticized!
Enough against Cody
As much as I dis-believe in Dan Hawkins ability to produce a winning team, I didn’t have any problem in him putting Cody in the game yesterday. Hansen was clearly hurt and unable to go the second half (spent the night in the hospital) and Cody is the back-up QB.
You don’t put Hirschman in and burn a redshirt year, plus I don’t beleive he would have been in any positon to do better than Cody in THIS game.
Cody actually had a couple of good drives, then Tech’s defense figured out that we wern’t going to rush anymore (thanks coaching staff) and we switched into the wind in the 4th.
As usual Cody gave it his all. No question, he isn’t the most talented QB- nobody disputes that. However he was our second best QB last night and came in as expected to take over for injured Hansen.
As said, I have enough complaints about Big Hawk, but the decsion to put Cody in yesterday wasn’t one of them.

Agree
I’ve been very impressed by Cody’s maturity during these past few years and he shouldn’t be getting the criticism that he is right now. Yeah, he isnt the best QB but he is a good kid put in a tough situation.
So, Buff fans, direct all of the anger about our program faults – and there are many – to Dan & Mike Bohn.

True but....
Cody shouldn’t be playing anywhere in D-1, he’s there because his dad is the coach. Kids pick their college, parents guide them but I’ve never seen a parent pick & send a kid to a college. Ultimately Cody chose CU to play under his old man, he saw the benefit and his choice has ruined this program. The program was handcuffed by the father son tag team, imagine our image if they fired Dad with son on team? Cody is to blame to a degree but the majority is Bohn and then Dan.
I don't think Cody has the size or skill set to be a D-1 QB but
It’s not like he chose CU over a bunch D-3 schools. His rivals page says he had an offer from Boise (maybe a courtesy for his dad) but he also had one from Oregon.
He got invited to the Elite 11 QB camp. When he first got here I thought he’d be a much better than he is but he has endured a lot as well. The O line has been shoddy since Hawkins got here and our play calling and game planning have been terrible. To be fair I’m not sure any quarterback could have succeed in our offense 2 and 3 years ago.
Then again several of his passes over of the years looked like they were kicked instead of thrown.
All i’m saying is we have 1 more year of both of them. This season isn’t going to get any better. At this point we might as well take the high road and try to survive the last month without wasting time complaining about the Hawkins.
Personally I plan to go into a keystone light induced coma until December

i agree as well
Everyone i know who has met cody says hes a genuinely nice guy, we all know he plays his guts out every time hes on the field. That being said he has put himself in a really bad situation coming here, however i dont blame him for trying to defend his dad and finally lashing out. as u said clebuffs hes handled it pretty well up til this point.
Enough
Say all you want about Dan, but Cody doesnt deserve all the abuse he gets. He plays hard, and played ok in the Tech game. He is in an impossible situation, and his father is a terrible coach, but he is a good kid.
enough what?
When you play at this level you aren’t above criticism, even if you are the coaches son.
Not this much
Its not like Cody had 3 picks. He threw for 274 yards and 2 touchdowns, and zero turnovers. He didnt win us the game but he definitly didnt lose it for us. Our coaching and play calling lost us the game. I dont think he deserves blame for the loss.
Feel bad for Cody
If his last name wasn’t Hawkins he wouldn’t get nearly the grief he does. I will also say this, I’ve never seen Cody quit and at times he’s been the only one that looks like he’s come out to play, for bad or worse.
I am reminded of his comments after the Missouri game which I thought were pretty funny. “I think it`s so funny that everybody talks about the road,” Hawkins said. “It`s not like we`ve been kicking ass at home.”
Could care less at this point
Look, I don’t think anyone except Dan Hawkins and maybe Cody thinks Dan Hawkins should be the HC. Basically with Tyler being out, we just guarenteed ourselves another losing season. Cody can’t control the fact his dad is an idiot, but he needs to get over the media criticizing the team, he is a Senior, he should understand the expectations that come with this program and the questions that will come when you under-perform week in and week out.
