A thought on Parker Orms
So I've come to the conclusion that Parker Orms will NOT be eligible for a 6th season because of his knee injury (despite what we speculated here). The waiver exists for players who lose 2 years to injury. If a player redshirts for normal reasons, he's not eligible. That's why Ben Mauck at Cincinnati lost his appeal, but why Luke Walters and Jordan Shipley were granted extra years. Honestly, if I were an unscrupulous coach, I think I'd have 20 guys a year come down with "back injuries" prior to the year. Document an injury even if none exists, just in case.

I hope you're wrong
and I kind of think you are, but I can’t think of any example to cite right this second… You saying you can’t get a medical redshirt in addition to a normal redshirt year?
correct. Both missed seasons have to be for injury reasons

I can't find the article I was earlier this week that piqued my interest, but here's this,
Athletes must miss two full seasons out of the possible five to circumstances they can’t control.
