Colorado V. Michigan 1994- How Far We Have Fallen

Happen to stumble across an ESPN Classic showing of "The Catch" and watching this makes me cringe at how far we (and Michigan too) have fallen since those glory years.  Names like Kordell, Salaam, Westbrook, Johnson (Ted), Lepsis, Fauria, and even Carruth  bring back memories of better football days.  Even had the legendary Keith Jackson calling the game!

Hopefully we will one day get back to this level of play and national prominence.

At the risk of dating myself, I remember the game well watching it from a sports bar near Sea-Tac airport in Seattle, WA with my brother who was visiting for the weekend.  About 10 of us went absolutely nuts at the end and I vividly remember the loud mouth MI fan who couldn't shut up the entire game, just sitting there staring at the big screen with his mount open (and nothing coming out)

For those of you old enough, what was your story?

I was 9 years old

and I went with my parents to a sports bar in Knoxville to watch the Tennessee (versus Miss St?) game that was on pay-per-view. All I remember was the game being close when I got there, and having just been seated at a table. All of a sudden, everyone there erupted in an OMG-like fervor, and I watched as replays showed Michael Westbrook catching a 64 yard pass from Kordell Stewart. That was probably my first memory of CU football.

Fun fact

That night was also Peyton Manning’s first college game after Todd Helton got injured.

I was a sophmore at CU when that happened

I was watching the game with a few friends at my rental house on the hill, and I vividly remember an audible roar erupting across Boulder when Westbrook caught the ball. I mean, you could hear everyone in town just screaming their heads off. Everyone ran out into the street and started celebrating. It was just a magical moment, and I’ve never seen anything even remotely like it since.

I was in New Mexico, they weren't showing the game, I just kept watching the score

Then at the end they showed that Colorado had won and they cut to the game, I couldn’t believe it. Was pissed I missed the entire game because of scheduling (I think they had a Pac-10 game on).

I was lucky enough to attend this game

I’ve never heard so many people go so quiet so quickly. It was an amazing experience, and absolutely one of my top life memories.
