Colorado Picks Up #18, North Carolina Prep RB Trea Jones
With the departure of running backs Demetrius Sumler and Darrell Scott from last year's squad, the Buffs have only three scholarship backs from a year ago. Because of that, running back turned into a big priority this offseason to try and add depth. Colorado has already received a verbal from New Jersey RB Tony Jones for the 2010 class and have followed that up with the most recent pledge to the group in North Carolina prep RB Trea Jones.
Jones, listed at 5'11" 187 pounds, visited Colorado this past weekend and received his first offer. Upon being offered, Jones accepted and is now Colorado's 18th known verbal commitment. Jones is not ranked by any of the recruiting services.
More to come on Trea Jones later tonight.

Welcome on board Trea
Sounds like something is up with him if he had no offers, is it an acedemic issue or is this kid a sleeper.

no offers and no ratings?
Sounds like me after my HS football career… Welcome Trea, Boulder is a great place to get an education and play D1 football.

Kid looks pretty quick and explosive. Love how he puts his head down and runs north-south…

And gotta love this…
Read earlier....
He had some interest from some ACC schools but had a pretty bad ankle injury during the playoffs this season after his team started off 14-0.
Ray Polk
Why can’t Polk move back to RB? He’s big, strong, and fast. We have more depth at Safety than RB.
A good thought but the question is
would you rather have Mahnke as your starting safety or Stewart/Lockridge as your starting running backs.
Maybe if Jalil Brown made a switch to safety and Deji Olatoye emerges as the other starting cornerback but if I had my choice, Polk would remain at safety. Just can’t have the breakdowns we had back their early in the year.

Keep Polk where he is
After the early season debacals (sp?) last year in the secondary I wnat Ray to stay there, and I believe thats what he wants too.
haha
thats exactly what I said on buffzone. Polk back at RB=Mahnke starting at safety. No thanks.

Agreed
Polk brings a level of speed and physicality to the safety position that no one else has shown the ability to match. With a year under his belt, I see Polk as a big time difference maker in the defensive backfield. He seems to have more talent than anyone else we’ve had at safety in ten years. He certainly has all big 12 potential.

Just think if we had kept Mister Jones
We would have had 3 Jones’s back there. Would’ve been awesome. A three-headed Jones monster….Nice.
A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.
