Sounds like neither of the Jones boys may qualify either.

It appears we keep offering guys scholarships who won’t qualify. Like Nuckles and Simon from last year. A sign of desperation?

Tony Jones, a 5-8, 185-pound prospect from Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey, recently committed to play for Hawkins next season. Jones` high school team was dubbed the prep national champion for the 2009 season by USA Today. Jones must have a strong finish in the classroom in high school to qualify academically at CU.

Colorado had another commitment from Littleton running back Mister Jones through much of the season, but when CU regressed, Jones withdrew his pledge and committed to Texas A&M instead. Jones is facing an uphill battle to qualify academically under NCAA standards. If he is not a qualifier, he would not be able to attend any Big 12 Conference school until he earns an associate`s degree at a junior college.

I just don't get it

"Duffman is thrusting in the direction of the problem" - Duffman
"Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun" - Ash from Army of Darkness
"H.I., you're young and you got your health, what you want with a job?" - Evelle from Raising Arizona
"It happens sometimes. People just explode. Natural causes." - Agent Rogersz from Repoman

Not the least bit surprised...

this is precisely why I questioned Jones in a previous message. He might be talented but there had to be something else going on for no other major school to take the plunge and offer a scholarship besides the fact that he is 5’8. Even if he qualifies to attend CU, it’s not a good start because it will be tough for him to stay elegible once he’s enrolled in class if he is in fact struggling to meet GPA and test requirements. Interesting about Mister Jones though…and Darrell Scott better start talking to Portland State, Appalachian State and Montana if he wants to play college ball next season.
