I may be somewhat biased since I am from Atlanta and am a UGA fan, but I am definitely not buying the Oklahoma State top 5 hype right now. I think they firmly planted themselves as top 10 with their win, but top 5 is absurd in my book. Their D really was not that impressive and were more helped out by sloppy offense, and their offense didn’t look that tough either. I think this is going to be like Texas Tech/Missouri was last year though, they got a ‘marquee’ win against a team that lost pretty much their entire offense to the NFL, and they are going to run through a bunch of fluff teams and be ranked #2 or #3 when they play Texas or something and get stomped. I may be wrong but I think the Oklahoma State bandwagon is a little premature at this point.

the problem with that thinking is that you have to find someone else who DOES deserve to be in that spot
Certainly no one else in the rest of the top 10 behind them has any greater claim on the #5 slot. Maybe Penn State for stomping Akron or Cal for stomping Maryland, but I don’t think they’d be any more legit.
And yes, I still think you’ve got Notre Dame ranked too high. Had you started them at, say, 22, would you have moved them up to 11 for that win? I don’t think so.

Its a good point.
I look forward to the ND-Michigan game this weekend even though I don’t like either of them. I think it will tell us a lot about both teams.

It was a huge win
and they have an argument to be up that high for now. If they aren’t careful Houston is a team that could knock them right back down again.

Yes, ND is to high
They beat Nevada, wow! Yes Nevada was supposed to have a pretty good offense but this proves nothing. I’m looking forward to watching the ND-Michigan game this weekend to get a real feel for both teams. I’ll also say that OkSU is a bit too high as well right now. These early rankings are tough to do b/c we just don’t know enough. Watch out for Cal…sleeper team

One more sleeper
Watch out for the Cincinnati – love their coach.

Kelly is fantastic
If he stays there that program could rule that conference (but he won’t)

Still think Notre Dame being that high this soon is ridiculous
Nevada? C’mon. Might as well boost Nebraska to 13 while you’re at it. Like that you included Mizzou and Miami.

It was more how handily they beat Nevada then just the fact that they beat em
