Let's Get Real Part II and Bohn... really?
In response to the person who posted Bohn's response to their email....
(Warning if you don’t understand sarcasm and or get offended easily please stop reading)
So I had the great displeasure of reading the first paragraph of Bohn’s miserable, pathetic justifications of our sad, struggling football team in a response to an email someone posted on here. I couldn’t get past the first paragraph b/c it made me physically nauseous. Disappointment doesn’t even BEGIN to cover it Bohn and frankly my disappointment lies with 2 people and YOU are one of them. Pretty simple to figure out who the other is.. Hawkins; not sure why the rest of the Colorado administration hasn’t realized it…as the gentleman who posted Bohn’s email stated and I concur 100% I BLAME 2 PEOPLE FOR THE DEMISE OF THIS PROGRAM: BOHN AND HAWKINS.
Furthermore, Bohn, DO NOT INSULT ME (I’m yelling can you hear me?!) with a history of CU football in your response - this program is NOTHING like any of the past programs you had the nerve to speak of and/or compare to. More importantly though, we are in the now – bottom line this program should be better. Period. The End. I’m sure Hawkins is a decent guy and a decent coach (aside from not minding nepotism in his workplace and not taking an ounce of responsibility for the demise of this program or even a crappy game for that matter..) but he belongs in the WAC or Sunbelt Conference not in the Big 12 and clearly not at CU.
We are in desperate need of a big name coach that will ignite some passion in the players, the fans and especially the alumni like myself who graduated when we were at the TOP!~ (early 90’s) It has been miserable watching the Buffs for the last few years and thank God I didn’t watch the Toledo game the highlights drove me to drink –the BEST part of watching CU Football now is watching Ralphie run – and let’s be honest she has a better running game at this point then the team(my feeble attempt at humor b/c otherwise I will need meds to get through this season.) . I may be a girl but I know good football when I see it! Our team is dreadful and it pains me greatly - I'm sure it saddens the players and assistant coaches as well.
So after I read the 1st paragraph and got physically nauseous I skimmed around to this little gem that
will no doubt put me on blood pressure medication.
“I am not offering excuses here, nor am I promising an amazing rebound this season.”
I don’t even know what to say to that. What PR genius came up with that ridiculous “don’t hold me accountable and don’t get your expectations up” crap? Par for the course and speaks volumes to the
lackadaisical --"medocrity is the new Top 10 mentality" CU football has now adopted. Are you kidding me Bohn? Way to take accountability and own up to the mess you have created.
Let me offer my unsolicited advice to you Mr. Bohn and Coach Hawkins – RESIGN. PLEASE I BEG OF YOU. To you Mr. Bohn: You clearly were in WAY over your head being AD of a Big 12 University coming from SDSU and oh that’s right you were personal friends with Hawk – shocker. CU should get the pick of the litter when it comes to coaches – look at our tradition, look at our facilities and look at our campus! You’re telling me Hawkins was the best you could do, although I know a lot of people who really liked the choice, I was not one of them. That said, I wanted to give him a chance and I did and now it’s over. If I do not perform well in my job over a period of time I will get fired like any other working person – coaching should be no different – don’t let your personal feelings or EGO get involved since you were the person responsible for this hire I’m guessing you really don't want to see him go b/c your legacy will be one of failure. Actually it already is unless by some miracle you get Jon Gruden, Bill McCartney out of retirement or some incredible, reputable coach to redeem yourself but let's be honest you haven't made the best choices so far so I can't really give you the benefit of the doubt on this one. Please go ahead and put that 2 week notice in.
As for Hawkins I don’t suspect he will do the right thing and resign er bench his son. Based on his comments frankly when he talks about any of the games he seems almost delusional (“you win some you lose some” – really? What true, competitive coach says that?! That’s inspiring, that makes me want to go hit someone on the field.) There's trying to make your team feel good, be positive and inspire them and then there is a mountain of excuses and PR spin - none of which I buy from Hawkins. I'm OVER it. There is nothing positive about 0-2 when your team plays like crap against non ranked teams.
I’m originally from Eugene, OR where I thought, “Wow nothing could be worse then something like what happened to the Ducks in their first game ironically against BSU where Blount clocked some guy…they played miserable etc. etc. Oh how wrong I was. It’s so much worse in Boulder. Oregon at least has hope. I’m fresh out of hope right now.
Lastly and I really do apologize if I have offended with my stream of conscious diatrabe but this was cathartic and needed to be done for my health… in response to this,
“In this spirit, despite our disappointment and our high hopes for this year, I am asking you to stick with us as we work to meet the challenges this season will hand us. “
I absolutely will stick with the Buffs (always have always will despite the incompetence) once you do the right thing and terminate Hawkins and YOU resign. It’s time someone tells YOU that you might want to take a look in the mirror and take some responsibility. I can personally help you with the challenges of this season by creating a search committee for a new AD and Head Coach. In fact I already have.
I feel slightly better now, thank you for allowing me this forum to rant.
Go Buffs (bring it back circa 1990-1995!)

I like your style and love your passion
That’s what this team (and the coaches) need right now and I just don’t see it. I hope you also sent this to Bohn. It really is frustrating, I feel like we’re trapped and as much as we all complain there probably won’t be any changes. No matter how badly things go the rest of the season and how many “fire Bohn” or “canidates to replace Hawkins” posts we make I think there is good chance both will be back next year. Somebody say something to cheer me up.
Say it isn't so!?
Um if that’s the case then I will need to become an Appalachian State or Fresno State fan – anything but CU. I can’t take it. That is the most depressing news I have heard but I agree. I’m just in denial.
A big loss this weekend
and the pitch forks will really be out. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see the Fire Hawk billboards go up, dozens of for sale signs showing up in Hawk’s front yard and fullpage newspaper adds calling/begging for his departure.
Its going to get ugly, really ugly. The Buff alum and fans may not require a top ten team year in and year out but they are sure as hell not going to put up with anymore of the excuses and lackadaisical attitude which has gotten us to where we are today.
Perhaps we should EXPECT to be in the TOP 10!
Maybe that’s the problem! If the fans actually had expectations maybe there would be more outrage but I don’t think the students care – they have no clue what it was like to be in Boulder when our team was solid and ranked in the top 10! The all black uniforms, the confidence, the intensity and this is going to sound so cheesy but they were badass.. They just had a swagger! We had 10 guys go to the NFL the year I graduated and I have so tried not to live in the past but this year has somehow put me over my patience limit. This team and frankly no offense to Hawkins but he and as a byproduct the team look a bit doughy. I’m a chick I notice these things. I know it’s totally irrelevant but I don’t care. I don’t like looking at Hawkins scrunched up whoosy face on the field! It’s not bc we are losing either I never wanted the camera to pan on him… I’ve just always thought he was sort of a douche.
So in honor of living in the past — let’s compare:
lil Hawk to Kordell, even Koy freaking Detmer for that matter
um do we even have any black WR to Michael Westbrook
Mcknight (I do like this kid) to Fauria or Daniel Graham
and really there is no one like Darius Holland and the like
There’s just a difference in attitiude, intensity, strength!
I’m just sayin….
