2009 Commit OL Shaun Simon Ruled Academically Ineligible
bumped and slightly modified from fanposts - irish1611
2009 commit, OL Shaun Simon has been deemed ineligible by the University of Colorado Admissions' office according to his Facebook status and other sources. Here is what Simon said on his page:
So just found out that CU admissions didn't qualify me! They tryna make a brotha greyshirt!! Naw I'm not doin that we gone restart this and hop up in one of these prep schools and do this recruitin sh*t again! If CU is the place then it's the place but Ima free agent now! im gone pray about it tho! I hope in the end it works out that ima be a buff!!
Once again, we see more cases of attrition in the offseason. Best of luck to Shaun and we hope to get a shot on the flip side of his prep school stint if that is the route he goes. You have to hope that the coaches can make him see the benefit of potentially greyshirting. A greyshirt process will allow him to train and focus entirely on getting his academics in order (like a redshirt but without the team participation in the fall), something that is priority number one. Let's hope this is the only player from the 2009 class that has these issues, a few of these guys will probably be asked to play early on - irish1611

hmm
Unfortunate, but based on his writing I can see why he might not of qualified. Let’s hope he can get his “shyt” together, if not well… like coffmonster said, have fun at K-State.

refreshing my memory on this kid...
wasn’t CU the only school to offer him? Hey Big Shaun, maybe you should consider the whole greyshirt thing, I’m sure you were gonna redshirt this year anyway. Get your academics in order and a scholarship to a major program will be waiting for you. It’s not like a ton of other schools were banging down your door bro…

ahh
I feel stupid responding to myself, but yeah, I see rivals has him getting a few offers, including the aforementioned K-State. I was looking at scout’s page, sorry…

Compare his attitude to Shaun Mohlers and Andre Simmons
I think I know which of these kids I’d want at CU, and it’s the ones who will work to be here if that’s what it takes. Good luck to Simon, but oh well…

those guys are both JC guys
obviously, they should be more mature, and they had no other options out of high school. Simon seems resigned to not qualifying anywhere. And if he wants to be a Buff, the door’s still open. Greyshirt, prep school… it’s still on the kid.
Frankly, we might have dodged a bullet. I’d rather have him not qualify out of high school than sneak in and then mess up. At least this way he doesn’t hurt our APR score.

Good point about APR
We don’t have enough wiggle room left for any more guys who can’t get it done in the classroom.

Now that’s kind of unfair. Im friends with Shaun on Facebook and he is probably the only player that I can have a regular chat with on Facebook. Some others might just blow you off. But he comes off as a very good kid. That quote was from earlier today. I talked to him recently about it. Now its obvious that the time you seen the quote and posted it was after you seen the others that were posted afterwards. That one above was just a little frustration from a kid that has been through alot. Why not post quotes like these that were posted throughout the day after this one above? See below- “Im going to greyshirt..im not gone go to prep school….I WANT TO BE AT COLORADO NO DOUBT!!!! Take time off to focus on that one semester at TCC hard!!! and just kicc it up a few more notches on the workouts!!! This might be one of them blessings in disquise!!! CU yall gotta get that shyt this year!! I’ll be up there second semester!!!” Looks like he wants to be a buff to me!! That was posted earlier in the day. Here’s another from earlier the most recent one-“I’ve had some bumps in my road before and now this one seems to be a steep ass hill but watch me sprint ova that hoe!! Let’s get it!! G.A.D!!!” These look encouraging to me. I don’t see any harm to anyone. Nothing wrong with a kid showing a little emotion from time to time. I for one am glad for Shaun to be a Buff and I know others are too. By the way he told me that “G.A.D” stands for “Grind All Day”. Good luck Shaun!

Apologies to Shaun and gobuffs223, but the first comment was the only one posted on Fb at the time. He seems like a good guy, and I really hope he plays for the Buffs and gets past the academic issues.

Hope he can focus on whats important
Get the academics squared away, as ultimately it will be more important than football. Its just another hurdle to overcome and trust me there are hurdles all throughout your lifetime. Best to learn how to get over them when you are young, and from what I’ve heard about Shaun before, he has the ability to do what he focuses on.
Glad he still wants to be a Buff!!

fyi Shaun
you failed to qualify, not CU. Now its time to grow up, and take responsibility and get the grades you need. That being greyshirt or not.

I would hope that he looks past football
He needs to realize that the probability of him making it past college in football is slim, I would hope that he realizes that getting an education at CU can open up a lot more doors after college, rather than dragging through K-State program to be spit out in four years with no education and a lifetime of meaningless jobs after football.

I was waiting for someone to post info here
but I did see a few days ago on rivals that Simon didn’t open his recruiting back up and that he plans on sticking with CU and greyshirting, so thats good. I also see today on Scout (don’t have premium membership though) that Nuckols still hasn’t been admitted. Hopefully not another greyshirt, Nuckols seemed to be one of those guys who might be able to contribute as a freshman. Anyone heard any details about this?

Nuckols
His paperwork hasn’t been release yet, that is the main issue right now. Nuckols said that he should be ok, but are waiting for his school to release his paperwork.
