Scout.com: Buffs Ink Third Verbal Commit in Colorado Prep Tight End Kyle Slavin
According to the scout.com player page, Dan Hawkins and Co. have received a verbal commitment from 6'5" 225 pound TE Kyle Slavin. Slavin, a soon to be senior at Chatfield High School in Colorado had received attention from Syracuse and Colorado State as well as a few Pac-10 schools. Slavin is the third verbal commit for the program, all three from the state of Colorado. Rivals.com has not confirmed Slavin's commitment.
Tight end is certainly a need position for the Buffs as they will lose four to graduation in 2009, with only two remaining on the roster in 2010.
The commitment of Slavin makes sense as both of his parents went to the University of Colorado, making it a favorite team growing up. This is a little biography that Slavin did when he was a sophomore so it looks like he has grown and put on the weight that he wanted to.
Slavin has not been properly evaluated by rivals.com so we will have to wait to get a good rating out of those sites but he has great size and decent wheels. Prior to his junior season, the Rocky Mountain News named him as one of the best tight ends/wide receivers in the 5A classification. He is two time all conference player including a second team all conference member last year in the highest level of football in the state of Colorado. Slavin caught 35 passes for 400 yards and 2 scores as a junior and has been featured in the Chatfield passing game since he was a sophomore. Kyle is also a basketball player for Chatfield.
More on Kyle Slavin later. Congrats on becoming a Buff!

Dude
This is turning into a sweet summer with recruiting.
Bring in every big TE that has to have good hands and feet if he players Bball, would love to see some more TE action this yr
Wow
For all the talk in the last few months of the Hawkins Slow Play Technique, this is pretty cool stuff. I enjoy early commitments! Of course, I’m still being patient and waiting to see how the HSPT works itself out this season, as in the past it’s been pretty effective. Exciting summer, no doubt.
If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding! HOW can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?!
love all the local kids too
I was complaining last week about teh slow starts the last couple of years, lol, and there goes Hawk.
Lets keep this rolling..
Cant believe I didnt address that
but yes, this just further proves the “closing the borders” we’ve been trying so hard to do. Last year, we got the state’s big dog but let quite a few others leave, and this year it looks like the big guy is getting away but we’re trying damn hard to lock down everyone else. Can’t complain. CU is at least back in the CO athletes collectice psyche.
