Brown takes charge at West Virginia
In an attempt to start researching the 2009 Buffs opponents and how their spring went, we will be dropping these little bits of information on to the site:
Fifth-year senior Jarrett Brown has the unenviable task of replacing Pat White, who broke 19 West Virginia and Big East records and won more bowl games than any other quarterback in NCAA history.
Brown didn't show any anxiety during spring practice, though, leading coach Bill Stewart to declare, "This is Jarrett Brown's team."
Brown is much taller than White, and offensive coordinator Jeff Mullen hopes to take advantage of his arm strength with more vertical passing. Against a watered-down Mountaineers defense, Brown completed his first 15 passes in the spring game and finished 21-for-28 for 273 yards with four touchdowns.

Thursday night in Morgantown
This game to me has a bigger “watermark” on it for the 2009 season than the 2008 game in Boulder. Thursday night up there will be a hell hole to play in, considering the revenge factor, alcohol infused ESPN Thursday night crowd and the magnitude of what a big road win would mean for the Buffs. Hawk is still missing a huge road win on the resume, but I think this would qualify. It’s very possible that the ’Neers come in 1-2 with Liberty as the lone victory. An improved East Carolina team has a chance to upset them at home and then they have a nightmare road game with our coach Grimes at Auburn. A win jumps the Buffs likely into the top 25. A loss, and were 3 and 1 facing a daunting trip to Austin to face Horns in week 5.
Morgantowm
When I graduated from CU I traveled for my fraternity for two years. I’ve been to 38 college campuses across the country and have seen the bar scene at each of them and the football stadium at most of them.
HANDS DOWN the students in Morgantown drink harder than any other student population I have been around. It’s the thing they take the most pride in. A very close second to them is their football traditions.
The Thursday night game in Morgantown scares me and it definitely will count as a big road win if we can pull it out.
Back from a very long semester....
I can’t wait to be in the stands for this game wearing my black and gold strong. Yes, I am considered a “turncoat” in my state of WV but who cares. I have the bragging rights until they actually beat us. The word around here is that they are going to run all over us and prove last year was a fluke.
This will be a very exciting game this year and last years game was great. I do think a lot of people are sleeping on Jarrett Brown. He could have started the past 2 years for just about any team in the country. I feel that too many people are getting caught up in this “he’s not Pat White” hype. My question is who is as good as Pat was the past 4 years? Not many people. He can fool you because most people don’t think he can run but he can pick up yards with his feet. His arm is what makes him special. He will hit his WRs and TEs. He has played and started some big games for this team. He’ll be ready this season.
As for the game, be prepared for good eatin’ and alcohol drinkin’ on that Thursday night. I’m sure, no make that positive that the fans won’t be as nice as our fans were when they came out to Boulder. Hawk will definitely have to get the boys ready for this one and I think they will be.
