Some Monday morning musings …
Colorado quarterback signee Clark Evans might feel a bit of added pressure even before he arrives for August camp.
That’s because word out of Salt Lake City is that former CU commitment Jordan Wynn looked terrific during spring drills for the University of Utah after enrolling early.
Evans (6-feet-5 and 230 pounds) and Wynn (6-2, 180) are both highly regarded QBs from Southern California that CU had targeted early in the recruiting process. Wynn gave an oral commitment to Colorado in June. Evans followed in July.
Wynn, however, switched to Utah on Nov. 18. According to rivals.com, some within the Utah program where whispering during the spring that Wynn reminded them of Alex Smith, the former Utes quarterback who became the No. 1 pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.
Former Colorado offensive coordinator and QB coach Mark Helfrich told me after signing day that the CU staff believes Evans is the better prospect. If that holds true it would be exciting news for Buffs fans.

Evans
Clark Evans’ size and youtube videos are enough for me to believe he will be a very good QB at CU. Hopefully as soon as possible.

Agree
I can’t get over his size. Should have an issue with balls being batted down at the line of scrimmage.
Wynn must look pretty scrawny at 6’2" 180lbs.

You mean "shouldn't" have an issue...? :)

I wonder how much Kiesau will change the offense
and how much it will effect Evans in the QB derby? Even moderate changes should help close the gap between Evans and the two incumbents…

I think I speak for all of us here when I say
“In Evans we trust to lead us to a Big 12 championship”
Boy would I have loved Wynn to be here and compete this spring though

I would love to see Evans in a Tyler Hanson's role what he did last yr
But with more passing involved if they don’t need to RS him to let him learn the playbook

That is interesting, seems like that the word was that Wynn was the more polished QB
than Evans, Evans seems like the better athlete and likey has a much higher ceiling than Wynn, hopefully it translates quickly onto the field. I don’t know how much he would be able to really contribute this year having to pick up an offense over the summer, but stranger things have happened.
This just as an aside, is Spond going to be given a shot at QB, or is as some pages jave him listed, being offered as an athlete likely transtioning to defense? I hope they at least give him an oppurtunity to compete next year at QB if he wants, I think being as gung ho and committing this early, he at least deserves a shot.

Who knows
which will be the better QB? But right now, I’d rather have Evans. Wynn committed to CU, then Evans did, and Wynn didn’t like what he saw in the future and was afraid of the competition, so he left. Good luck.

Who knows ... what Wynn was thinking?
But Clark Evans is the one I really wanted to be a buff. With Evans here, (and Spond/Moten/Slota/Lobato and others with some QB potential) here, things are shaping up. And if we get a couple good WRs on board (Clemmons, Clemmons, Clemmons!), could be a great year in 2010 and beyond.
I know some of those mentioned will find spots other than QB, but it’s great to have that much depth if needed.
