Lynn Katoa, the highest-rated prospect in Utah, ran afoul of legal and academic expectations. Linebackers coach Brian Cabral confirmed Katoa won't return to the team.

Not a surprise...
but I have to admit that I was still holding out hope to see him in Black and Gold.
probably can, hopefully won't
irish asked “what’s next?” last night and I was gonna be snarky and list a few things (this definitely being one of them) but I didn’t want to jinx the team…
This doesn’t suprise me AT ALL either, but I wonder why there is no mention of this anywhere else (except for two sentences burried in an article about how good the LBs are).

Man thats a bust.
I hope Lynn the best in whatever it is he chooses to do now, its just sad he will never be wearing the black and gold.
You know, this week has been bad, but i think we’ve had worse weeks in the years past. It sucks that we cant go to spring practices, but if it makes the guys more work harder without us there, and it shuts down the minscule chance that someone steals our spring plays (look out!). Then I guess its worth it. I would gladly trade a successful season for not being able to attend spring practice.
Also, losing Ballenger I really don’t see as much of a blow. The writings on the wall that lil’ Hawk or Hansen will start, and this Clark Evans cat coming in is the shit. I cant blame him for peacing out, and I cant see a situation where losing him will be detrimental to us.
As for Katoa, its a big loss yes, but we were all waiting for it. College just isnt right for some people, sadly it looks like Lynn was one of them
So here’s to good weeks ahead, and to the people at the scrimmage this morning, i hope you had fun, but don’t tell me about it, the SS might come and get you. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, were playing Texas twice next year. Go Buffs!

Man that is disappointing
Of all the recruits from 08’ Katoa was the one prospect I was the most geeked to see on the field. It is a shame that things came to this, I really don’t know what happened, from an early enrollment to getting booted, I just don’t get it, he seemed like he had his head on straight.
