Another ACL Tear for Max Tuioti-Mariner
I guess I went to bed a bit to early last night. Nice work by HighlandsBuff to get this fanpost up on the board. Not the kind of news I wanted to start my day to... - Woodrow
More bad news for Max Tuioti-Mariner—he tore the ACL in his left knee in conditioning drills today. The injury is in the same knee he injured in high school, and of course this comes on the heels of having just recovered from the right knee ACL tear that kept him on the sidelines for most of last season. Dave Plati just put out a press release confirming that MTM will miss spring drills.
"It's a tough blow, he had to go through this with the other (knee) and now this one again," CU head coach Dan Hawkins said. "Eric McCarty (team physician) examined him tonight, and told us surgery will be in the near future once the swelling goes down. But his teammates are loving him up, we’re loving him up, and he’s generally a very positive person to begin with. We’re encouraged that we will be able to get him back for the season."
I was really hoping we could get through spring drills without any major injuries, and it's obviously disappointing to lose MTM before practices even begin. Let's hope he'll make a full recovery by August and be ready and able to return to the line as a solid contributor if not a starter. He's suffered through more than his fair share of injuries the last few years.

NO!!!
thats horrible. what are these guys doing when they keep getting hurt not during actual contact drills or games? frustrating. well, hopefully he heals fast and will play this season.
Ouch
Don’t ACL tears take around a year to heal? With his history I wouldn’t be surprised if he red shirts this season. Wish him a full recovery.
that is what I am thinking reading through these articles
why do these guys (the media) think he is going to be ready by August? An ACL tear takes a minimum of a 8 months which would put him in the October to November range and the fact that he has had three knee injuries probably makes him easily out for the year

I'd be shocked if he was ready for the start of the season...
KU had one of their younger Linebackers tear his ACL on special teams late October. He was expected to be a starter this coming year and they think he’ll just be getting up to speed come August. That’s 10 solid months.
Now I’ve seen it done faster but I think to expect a guy to have a knee surgically repaired, rehab and be full strength in six months is pretty optimistic. He might be able to see the field but full speed…doubtful.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Dang, not what I wanted to hear.

Even if his leg completely healed by august
his leg strength would need to be built up as well…which would probably take atleast 4 weeks. I’d like to be optimistic and say he will be ready, but the realistic side of me says see you in 2010 MTM.
I agree, ACL is tough to get over quickly
