Mike Leach Fired

Wow.  I did not see this coming this soon. This whole situation is going to get even worse and I really feel for those kids who are trying to prepare for their bowl game. This is my personal opinion but I don't think that Leach did a thing wrong and Adam James should be relegated to a FCS program after this fiasco.

Note to Dan Hawkins and staff:  get on the phone and start calling some Red Raider recruits.

What are the chances

they look at Hawkins for their opening? I know it would only happen in fantasy land, but fantasy land is more fun to be in than the reality that is CU football.

Can we hire this guy right now?

I will pledge my alumni dollars today if we can hire Leach to coach our team. He can even coach our bowl game this year. Oh, never mind… Well next year then.

Agreed

I would forgive Mike Bohn for life if he hired Mike Leach. Pirates in Boulder. It’s damn near perfect.

Mike Leach in Boulder has a great ring to it

Maybe that should be Hawkins pitch to the Texas Tech recruits, hey guys, come up to Boulder, you will get to play for Mike Leach next season after I get canned.

I'm still scratching my head at the whole thing

I keep thinking that their must be more to this story

I think the AD has been trying to find an excuse to can him

The allegations are pretty serious, but I have to wonder how much is true and how much is the AD trying to get Leach out of town.

Strange situation

But if what he did is true, and hope it isnt, he should be banned forever from coaching amatures. What is alleged is disgusting. Its messing with a kids future, this is no leg or hand injury were talking about, its their brain, something we all need to function every day. Its ignorant especially with what the NFL is going through to not be aware of the seriousness of concussions, on top of that to chastise and basically torture a kid who may have one? Thats unexcusable. There’s good ways of coaching and motivating, and risking a persons future is not one of those ways. If that is the way Leech is, I want him no where near Boulder, regardless of his record.

I think the truth will come out,

but the reports from people closely involved (players and coaches) say this kid was more of a problem than Leach. Mike Leach has gone to a bowl in each of the last 10 seasons and the only complaint about him comes from a rich and spoiled brat, no less than a week before he’s due some incentives. I’d venture to say TT was looking or an out here, not that Leach is a bad guy. As far as coddling college football players goes, “Hawk Love” has given us some lovely results in his tenure. It should be over.

Let’s also remember this kid is an adult. While he is an amateur as well (as most of us here are), he’s still in control of his own life and actions, and it sounded like he needed to be taught a lesson.

Assuming it doesn’t come out that Leach did something bad I’d be happy to have him recruit for and coach our team.

Not to mention

the doctor who diagnosed Adam James’ concussion said that the time in the shed and electrical closet was not dangerous to his condition. It sounds like the “time outs” we give our 3 year old son. They work.

But what he being "punished" for?

Not being tough enough to play through a brain injury?

by BuffnBigD on Dec 30, 2009 9:35 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

While I agree if the accusations are true he definately needs to go

But I doubt that is the whole truth.

Yeah im starting to see that

The more I hear about this kid, the more he just seems like a dick trying to take down a guy he doesnt like. On the bright side though, him being a douche makes our chances of beating tt a bit better next year!

well

we are 2-0 versus tech under hawkins. I’m pretty sure it’s the only big 12 school he hasn’t lost to. Maybe we don’t need leach after all :-)

Thats quite a distinction.....

Maybe thats the real (justified) reason for the firing, “you are the only coach in the universe to allow CU under Dan Hawkins to be undefeated against you”…. How embarrasing.

Well, that is grounds for termination in my book

Sort of like losing to CSU at home…oppps.

Letters in support of Mike Leach.

Very, very interesting stuff.

A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.

I loved those letters...great stuff

and something we didn’t hear a whole lot from when the whole Mangino stuff was going on, at least to this magnitude…I would love for Leach to be in Boulder, doubt it happens as our current administration lacks…I don’t want to get into again but it would be amazing… Texas Tech really screwed up, his record and success speaks for itself.

Also, I wonder if Hawkins stops the whole

making injured players move wheelbarrows of sand during practice…

Leach reminds me of Rain Man

He seems to be one of those brilliant Autistics…plus he looks like Dustin Hoffman

So was Adam James scoring with Mike Leach's wife?
