Welcome to the Ralphie Report as the Colorado Buffaloes get ready to take on arch rivals Colorado State in Ft. Collins, Colorado.  This is a game where the Buffs can make a real statement about the basketball programs improvement.  Las Vegas is taking the road and the rivalry into account but 2.5 points should be way too low for this game and I hope the Buffaloes come out blazing with an abundance of energy.

From CUBuffs.com

CSU UPDATE: The Rams have won three of their last four games (all three wins at home) defeating Mayville State (79-42), San Francisco (91-75, 2 ot); and Denver (64-59). Dorian Green leads the team in points, assists, steals, while Andy Ogide ranks second in points and rebounding. Head Coach Tim Miles enters his third year in Fort Collins and a 17-19 home record at Moby Arena.

Wow

Buffs on the road. What the hell is the deal? No matter the sport we can’t seem to get it done on the road even if it’s only a 45-minute road trip. This has been a trying year to be a Buff sport fanatic. Please get it done in the 2nd half Buffs. There is NO reason to lose this game whatsoever. Very, very frustrating to say the least.

CSU is just flat out-hustling CU

literally stealing the ball out of CU’s hands… CSU doesn’t miss a shot, or they get every single second chance.

I'm with you..

I thought there were some questionable fouls that went against the Buffs

Dear Rockies - Thank you for a wonderful rollercoaster of a season! NL Wild Card Champs. Best turnaround in MLB history for a team to win the Wild Card. Can't wait to do it again next year!

Ugh

Missed the first half and just turned it on, and now I’m wishing I just missed the whole game. Why do we suck in all sports other than skiing and cross-country running?

Cory Higgins...1 for 7 ????

thankfully Burks has played well but we won’t win with Higgins having this kind of night

I simply cannot live in a world

Where CSU > CU in both major sports. Ugh. God. This is my doomsday. I cannot tolerate this. Please get Mike Bohn out of here ASAP. This is ridiculous. No reason whatsoever to lose this game. None. Inexcusable. I may be at all all time low as a die-hard Buff fan. Wow.

Just got back from the Fort

I hate to pull this card, and our shooting was lowsy, thats undeniable, but that was the worst refereed game i have seen in a while. Literally every time we played physical at all, we would get called, yet when we were getting mugged by their D, we wouldn’t get a single call. It was really amazing how inconsistent the calling was. Shameful. At least give us a chance to win refs.

Regardless, CSU is still the little brother. They confirmed that by rushing the court.

I couldn't watch it

but the radio guys were saying the same thing about us getting screwed by the refs, but still, this is one we HAD to win.

No offense, but I really don’t think we should be saying anything about anyone rushing the field/court, because let’s face it, we’re the undisputed world champions of lame fan celebration. You KNOW we would of rushed the field IF we beat them in football and probably would of in basketball too if the tables were turned. Let them have their fun, for now anyway…

by nebraskasux on Dec 11, 2009 12:15 AM MST up reply actions

Yeah I have to

agree, we use the field rush waaaay too much (See aTm). But there is a big distinction to be made, we rush becase WE won, they rush because we lost. Im convinced they are more concered with our team and what we do, that their own team.

All that being said, can someone get a damn rebound?!?! We have to drink some energy drinks or something, because if CSU killed us on playing hard, were going to get massacred by the big XII

Watched the game last night on the Mtn.

For starters we looked nothing like the team we saw in Maui. We came out flat and never really got anything going.
Of the 22 Franklin scored for CSU, 8 came from the line and 10 of the other 14 were gimme baskets. Either a tipped pass led to a defensive scramble leaving him wide open under the basket or simple baseline penetration wasn’t cut off.

Good
- The Buffs showed some heart and pride towards the end of the game. Somewhat battling back to bring it within 6 and although I’m not sure what was said between Relphorde and Ogide that led to the Ogide Tech it was nice to see players sticking up for each other and showing some “controlled fire.”

Bad
- Rebounding, Rebounding, Rebounding!!!!! We looked terrible on the boards last night. Out rebounded 36-25? Size wise I think it was a pretty good matchup for us. Athleticism (which i thought we had an advantage in) can be beat on the boards by hustle and fundamentals (boxing out). Giving up 9 Offensive Rebounds is unacceptable if you want to win on the road.

CSU deserves some credit. They played with heart and to be honest playing hard and wanting it more really did win them the game. There fans were excited and Tim Miles has done a good job of coaching to his players strengths. They also have some talent. Dorian Green can shoot the ball.

I think it’s a little to early to jump off the bandwagon or start the 1-15 talk, granted we have a tough road ahead. Let’s hope the young kids learn from these losses and the upperclass men step up.

Is it possible that the players responded to the assistant coach

who was in charge in the Maui tournament(sorry can’t remember his name) more than than do Bzedelik? Could that be the difference?

I'm reposting this from the DC:

While at a party tonight, two comments stuck in my head: “Hawkins must have meant ten wins in his career” and “Colorado: they’re in the Mountain West, right?” Thanks a lot, Bohn.
