According to Kyle Ringo from the BDC:

Colorado received an oral commitment from wide receiver/kick returner Keenan Canty, a 5-foot-9, 150 pound prospect from New Orleans.

Canty told Scout.com he gave CU coaches his pledge to join the program during his visit. He is the eighth known commitment in the 2010 CU class and the first wide receiver.

He made his official visit with two of his school teammates, quarterback Munchie Legaux and defensive tackle Harold Legania, who both hold offers from the Buffs as well.

More to come on Canty. Here is his scout and rivals profile. His high school teammate, Munchie Legaux is a 6'4" dual threat quarterback that has a serious offer list and is extremely talented. Michigan, Oregon, Ole Miss, West Virginia and Tennessee. Legaux, the 12th ranked dual threat QB in the nation, also visited this past weekend with Canty.

Here is a video of Canty (h/t NYCskibum)

Welcome to the black and gold, Keenan.

The video makes him look outstanding. Can’t believe he wasn’t holding any other offers.

I don't know how realistic it is to get

his QB Munchie Legaux but he is crazy good as well. If we got him…yikes.

While I would love to get the QB, I think Hirshman is fine

I would much rather get the DT, since we could use some help there.

Agree, I really like Hirschman too...

D-Line, WR, and an O-Line beast would be my wish list. Of course I’d like to have Munchie as well… I can hear it now, “Munchie hands off to Mister…”

Hopefully he'll work on Munchie and Harold

Would be great to make Buffs out of all of them. And no sort of “getting to know the receiver” issues between Munchie and Keenan.

Trying not to burst any bubbles, but

Keenan Canty is listed at 5’9" and 148 lbs. He runs a 4.74. My guess is that this must simply be a recruiting ploy to get the QB and DT interested, unless there is something underneath the surface. Maybe Keenan will have a growth spurt.

by mdk on Nov 9, 2009 1:10 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

I think the 4.74 is a junior year 40 time. I think he is more in the 4.55 - 4.6 range

His measurables are very out of date from what I have heard.

I am kind of the same opinion

I think this is more a deal of trying to get some other kids from La up here, I noticed on the highlite film that half the high lites are from scrimmages or practices. The QB also had one of the weirdest delieveries I have seen for a while, looks like Phyliss Rivers and his shot put aproach to throwing the ball, a lot of 1.2 arm, flicking motion, rather than setting the feet and driving the ball.

Per Rivals - Munchie also committed to CU

It will be interesting to see how this pans out next year with Hansen, Evans, Lobato, Hirshman and now Legaux vying for playing time.

Wow, why we have this many QB I have no idea

Maybe Cody Hawkins can transfer, seems to be a log jam. I wonder if they are looking at converting him to a WR, seems to be built like one.

WE GOT MUNCHIE!

2 out of 3 so far! Let’s hope Harold commits and we can get the Edna Karr HS sweep!

by NoVABuff on Nov 9, 2009 2:26 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

Hopefully this will open up some windows in La

I would really like to see the DT commit also, he seems to have excellent size, I am guessing that Munchie will be converted to a WR 6’ 4" with 4.6 speed, if not I don’t know why you would have Hirshman, Evans, and Muchie alll fighting for the QB position.

You get munchie b/c

you never know what’s going to happen w/ a QB. See Ochs, Ballenger, Hawkins, etc., etc., etc.

by BuffulanceMan on Nov 9, 2009 2:33 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

That's true, I just hope Hawkins gives the kids a legit shot

I could see him giving all the reps to Cody because he “understands” the playbook and then tells the other guys like Evans and Muchie that they need to convert or they won’t see the field.

Sounds like he has no interest in switching to WR

“I’m a quarterback,” Legaux said. “That’s what I want to be.”

My guess is that coaches promised a shot at QB, while some other schools maybe hedged on that a bit.

by highlandsbuff on Nov 9, 2009 3:00 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

I bet you're right.

Good call from the coaches to land this guy, if that’s what they had to do to get him. And if he can’t win the position, he can be a great backup or decide to play WR or something at that point. 2-3 years out is a long, long time and he may change his mind…

by BuffulanceMan on Nov 9, 2009 3:22 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

A shot at QB

I’m hoping that the coaching staff gives both Legaux and Spond legitimate shots at QB, because what do they have to lose? Then, what hopefully happens, is that Hirschman, Hansen and Evans prove to be the top three and these other two guys switch positions (although after the big concussion, we’ll have to wait and see about Spond) and play to their strengths and physical abilities. Spond is a mean LB, and Legaux looks the part of a WR. As long as they get real shots at QB, I feel like they’ll be OK with switching positions to get on the field.

Of course, if none of these guys separate themselves from the pack at QB, then we’ll be dealing with a whole different situation.

And anybody else really excited about a kid that’s supposedly good at returning both kicks AND punts?
