I think it was one of those seasons where you know, gosh, you could go back and take away maybe even 10 plays this year and we're probably a bowl team. We just have to learn to clean it up a little bit.

Hawkins loves the middle ground – no tops and no valleys – but give me a fucking break! Wake up! This was a winnable game and yet we once again self destructed due to the usual suspects. I’m just tired of the excuses; take some responsibility Hawkins.
Now Bohn & Co can claim that we were competitive today but what is the point? Who strives to just be competitive?

Setting the ridiculousness of the assertion aside, could he set the bar any lower? “Probably a bowl team” means CU would have been a .500 ball club. Everyone would still be pissed off and calling for his head. It bothers me that the mark of excellence has become a bowl game when > 50% of the teams playing get to go to a bowl game. It’s become the equivalent of a participant ribbon.

In my opinion, the bar was already set pretty low

with the “10 wins no excuses” statement. I guess he was saying it’s ok if we lose to WVA or TEX, because we “aren’t supposed to win those anyway.” Truth is, we looked better in those two games (at times) than the other 7 losses.

I want a coach that says “Let’s win them all… run the table,” even if the schedule looks brutal.

I have refrained from personnel attacks on Hawkins, but this type of quotes makes me seriously think this guy has no freakin clue of what the hell his job is. 10 plays, what ten plays would that be? This guy is a freaking lame duck coach and he could care less.
