What is a fan to do? To hate or not to hate?
After this game, I thought long and heavy about what good it does to complain. I love TRR and the dedicated staff, and I love that the people on the boards are dedicated buff fans that want a great program for CU. I had thought about putting up a blistering anti-Hawkins letter, but then I thought, am I really hurting the program by the anti-Hawkins rants. I am sure that recruits probably come across this board and other boards in the age of the Twitter, face book, etc., and I ask myself, if I was a good high school player from say California or Texas and didn't know much about the program, and I saw what was being written about Hawkins on the TRR and other boards, why would I come here? I want good kids and players wanting to come here, I want them to know they will have support from the fan base. That the fans are not against the team, we want what is best for the team and for the players. We want success, we want them and the team to succeed. But in the same vein, I know that Hawkins will never be the guy to lead this team to anywhere but the cellar of the Big 12. That guys that come here are going to be in for a lot of toil and turmoil from a staff that won't play to their strengths or help them get prepared to play D-I football. I sit there and think, well what is the only way to get Hawkins dismissed, and reality is that the program almost needs to get their heads kicked in every week to get the administration to force a change. That unless the fan base continues to be vocal and a pain in the ass, the administration will allow for mediocre results to be the norm. I keep asking myself, how do I find a way not to turn off a good recruit and still get rid of Hawkins? Do I silently wait for the next few years the inevitable change and continue to watch the program suffer or do I just accept the fact that limiting the talent base and being vocal will hopefully expedite the removal of Hawkins? What is a fan to do?

There is certainly a debate about being negative and the effects it has on recruits
but the Buffs winning 2 games probably has more of an impact than anything said on a blog. If the Buffs were winning 6 or 7 games a year, I think the point is valid that it is better to be positive than negative but to me, winning 2 games is all the evidence you need.

I too have thought about this
Some people were asking if we should hope Mizzou hung a hundred on us. Would THAT at long last prompt Hawkins to resign or the administration to fire him? Do we absorb a tactical loss for a strategic win? What has to happen to spur the CU leadership into some action? Like someone once said “We need to do something, even if it’s wrong!”

Our record and performance speaks for itself...
It would be criminal to encourage a player to come to CU’s football program until this mess is cleaned up. And I agree, I think our record and or performance speaks for itself.
Actually a star player would be smart to come to CU right now, oh oops the logical thing would be to start them but Hawkins often goes against logic so never mind.

I'm behind the kids
They can only do what the coaches prepare them to. Run the plays that are called and execute to 100%. They’ve been unprepared to play, bottom line.
I worte my letter to Bohn last night asking him to make a change for the kid’s sake, something I never felt compelled to do before. I just think that we have to show some glimmer of hope to the kids that are here and the kids that are thinking about coming here, and we need to do it now. The damage that is being done right now is catastrophic long term.

To hate or not to hate?
I’m thinkin’ hate. You know we won’t see any changes from the University without it. You know we certainly won’t see any changes from Hawk. We can worry about recruits later. We need to nip this trainwreck in the bud. Let’s hate his sorry butt right out of town and his son ta boot.

Can't ever hate the players
But the coaching staff and AD, that’s a whole different story.
I don’t think we the fans have too much effect on the recruiting process, regardless of rants or praise. I think what speaks loudest is the success (or lack thereof) of the program- 2 wins and losing Scott doesn’t go very far to indicate a successful program.
Some seem to think that the departure of Scott means that Mister Jones will for sure go to CU now. I don’t see it that way, personally. If I were Jones, I’d be seriously wondering about now if that staff could develop my skills as an RB in any meaningful way, as it certainly didn’t with Darrell Scott.
The longer the Pigeon stays, the more damage is done and the more ground we lose, but we can’t afford to fire the guy because Bohn extended his contract. What a terrible position to have been placed in. Bohn, that same guy that extended Barnett’s contract and then fired him a month later. You’d think he would’ve learned a lesson from that debacle, wouldn’t you?
Nope, guess not- guy made the same exact mistake with the Pigeon.
Both Bohn and the Pigeon need to go.
