Nice Win Finally! KSU: Game of the Year All of a Sudden?

Missed the game chat but I had to go to Folsom to support my man Tyler and the guys. Great comments by all you guys, I enjoyed reading them.

I must of aged about 10 years during the game, that second half was so hard to watch, Reesing is a beast, it almost seemed like a given that he was going to rip all of our hearts out and win the game. Defense held when they had to (kind of) but I wasn't exactly pleased with the secondary tonight. I don't remember Kansas running the ball once in the entire 2nd half yet they were completing long pass after long pass. Lot's of great, athletic catches by Meyer and Briscoe but come on, that was ridiculous. That 3rd and 30 play was like a shotgun blast to the face, but I knew it was gonna happen, I leaned over to my buddy in the stands and yelled into his ear right before that play: "there's about a 75% chance they convert this." Also, can we cut down on the damn penalties?? How many times did we have 1st and 15 or 2nd and 20 because of holding or offsides or something. This seriously has to be cleaned up, first last week and now this. Again (just like WVU and Texas) we we’re spotted a big lead but couldn’t hold on, at least we came back and won tonight, but we need to put an end to this trend.  DiLallo punted horribly (except for the last kick which was OK), they won the field position battle all night almost entirely because of his bad kicks.

But there are some positives, right??  Yes, Tyler played his ASS OFF!! I know he made a couple mistakes (mistakes young, inexperienced QBs make) but anyone who doesn't think he's locked up the job or doesn't see how much more he brings to the table than Cody (which I've been saying for more than a year now) is either insane, blind, or named Mitsi Hawkins. He has a lot of similar qualities that Reesing has (and as lame as it is to say, King Tebow). Now if we can just get our WRs making plays or even catching simple passes (that's mostly on the RBs last night) we'll be OK. Props to Cody for being so positive on the sidelines all night (at least from what I could tell). I was disappointed to not see Simmons get involved, we really need that playmaker at WR, maybe it isn't him, but at least Simas is starting to live up to all the billing.  The D-line also made lots of plays, good for them.

Anyway, great win, the Big 12 North is WIDE OPEN. Mizzou is shaky, Corn was exposed for the frauds they are, every one of our remaining home games is winnable, we just need to finally get it done on the road. Who was that awesome team wearing purple today that put 60-some points on A&M? Yeah, the game next week just turned into one of the biggest of the year. ISU is playing good ball too, so we need to find a way to get at least one road win, let‘s do it next week.

I second your comments

While was watching that game, I kept saying, why the hell was Hanson not the starter form the get go, again watching Hawkins on the sidelines basically walking around with a frustrated look in his face said it all, he was hoping Hanson would struggle enough to yank him, but hopefully now he knows it will basically be the last straw if he pulls Hanson. I agree the Big 12 north is wide open, now we need to actually show we can win a game on the road.

It did frustrate me to also think that beating Kansas at home is cause for rushing the field. CU should be expected to beat the likes of Kansas at home and not be some upset. I am glad for the win, but Hawkins still needs to prove something more than this.

"Me fail english, that unpossible" - Ralph Wiggum
"Duffman is thrusting in the direction of the problem" - Duffman
"Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun" - Ash from Army of Darkness
"H.I., you're young and you got your health, what you want with a job?" - Evelle from Raising Arizona
"It happens sometimes. People just explode. Natural causes." - Agent Rogersz from Repoman

I'm proud to say that I didn't run onto the field :-)

I guess my feeling is that it’s been a rough season, we beat a top 20 team, let the students have their fun. However, I totally agree with you: we SHOULD beat Kansas at home, this was not a “signature win”, the “hot seat” should still be very toasty. That’s been the problem with the Dan Hawkins era, every win we can get over a somewhat decent team is reason for major celebration.

Another thing I’ll mention that I forgot: again we got schooled on the halftime adjustments, and burning timeouts on random 3rd and short plays early in halves is quickly becoming a Dan Hawkins signature move. Come on, have the plays ready! It’s only a matter of time before we lose a game because of bad time-out management.

We did win though, I’m still happy! But I’m not happy I misspelled a word in the title of my post. Stupid!

Need to get two road wins...

to have a realistic shot at the North title. That makes the K State game huge. Celebrating the Kansas win was sweet, but it’s over now. This Saturday is the biggest game of the year (so far!). Let’s hope Hawk can keep everyone focused. And no one should be looking ahead to Missouri. We haven’t proven that we can win on the road. For a young QB, Tyler will be seriously tested in each of the three remaining road games.

I loved the win Saturday at Folsom…….gave us all hope for the remainder of this season…..let’s see if we can keep it going.

We still have a lot of holes to shore up... But D played great and Offense is starting to get it

Great win and a great way to start up some momentum… Cannot overlook K-State and then we get Missouri at home. I am so psyched that the only two games I will be getting back to CO for now might be the most influential MU and NU.

What I wouldn’t pay to see CU play CSU right now. God damnit, I hate that we lost to them

I would think a little more, 5 or 6 maybe?

CU money line here I come (wish I wouldn’t of been so gutless this week, I did take them with the spread though)
