Worst announcers ever??
Everyone knows my hatred for the FSN announcers but today went to a WHOLE different level.
After we stopped them near the goal line and we were up 34-30 with about 4(?) ish minutes left, the disaster happened.
The announcer goes on for a solid 10 sec about how CU used up their TO and wondering how much they will risk it.
I think there was a replay of the 4th down, then he continued.
"With a new QB and no TO down near the goaline how risky will CU get to try to get something downfield."
One problem buddy that finally the other announcer pointed out
"CU doesn't need to open it up because they will try to run out the clock up 4."
I don't even mind calling out the wrong player for a half, was that guy seriously watching the same game??
Anyway, good attempt by Hawk to save his job, just need to take care of business in the north and turn this thing around..

Yeah
I noticed it too and was bewildered. How the hell do you get that wrong? Had he already packed away the KU TD in his mind? It was embarrassing.
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.

I have had more people talk to me about the announcing than about the game
hideous display.

I'd take Musberger...
as that means we’d be a good enough team to command a Saturday night game on ABC. Sure beats being on FSN, not that I’m complaining since i live in Chicago and am able to get the games that way.

Another mistake
Was when the announcing team bemoaned CU’s FG in the 3rd quarter. “You can’t settle for 3 there” when it put us up by 17 and basically won the game

remember that
somehow they thought 17 points was still within two scores.
The worst was the comments about needing timeouts at the end of the game.

Commercials
This had to be the most interrupted game I have ever watched on TV. There was a commercial on after every other play in the 3rd quarter. I really don’t like FSN either. Announcers, commercials, effects, it’s all lousy. Every time I turned over to ESPN during a break there was football on. What gives.

Penalties, timeouts and scores/kickoffs/punts
all contributed to that feeling. But, I totally agree.
My guess is FSN can’t command the same pricing for commercials on its network that an ESPN or CBS can. Accordingly, in order to maintain profitability they have to run a higher number of commercials in the same timeframe than ESPN or ABC. It’s a volume model rather than a margin model.

not really true
You’re correct when you say that FSN cannot command the same ad rates as ESPN or the over the air networks, but the difference isn’t nearly as great as you may think. But FSN maintains their profit margins with significantly crappier cameras, and fewer of them. Plus lesser salaries for their employees across the board and 10 year old production equipment. They don’t run more commercials (they might be more ham handed about when they go to break. I know I saw a lot of instances between possessions when the broadcast stayed on the field as opposed to cutting to commercial, as is the traditional way).
I know this because I may or may not work for FSN’s parent company (wink). If anyone wants Joel Klatt’s email address, let me know!
PS- I love watching Jim Knox running with Ralphie. It’s hilarious. Everything else about the FSN broadcast can go to hell.

Thanks for the enlightenment!
That certainly makes sense as well.
