Dan Hawkins Radio Interview on 104.3 the Fan
Very brief, very short answers...
I think the DMac guy really asked Hawkins some hard questions almost crossing the line. That being said, I was pretty impressed with the questions.

I love this
Someone needs to have the balls to start asking Hawk the tough questions. Though he always has some great spin on things…

God that was hard to listen to
If this season ends 2-10 I don’t see how the school doesn’t make a change no matter the cost. Hawk has lost the trust and respect of the fans and the media to the point where he is an open joke. Its not going to get an easier on him either unless we see some immediate improvement on the field. I almost want to feel bad for him but feel his arrogance through this whole thing has made him straight up unlikeable.

My thoughts exactly
That interview made me really uncomfortable, and it had nothing to do with the questions – just another truly uninspiring performance by Coach Hawk. He really sounded like a dead man walking, and I agree with Buffulance Man that at this point it’s just not possible to have any confidence in him.
For those of you who listened online you may not realize, but Hawk was late for the interview TWICE. I was listening on my way home from work, and Alfred and the other guy were starting to wonder out loud if Hawk was just going to blow them off. Not the right way to treat the local media under any circumstances, but especially if you’re sucking wind in your fourth year and rapidly losing fan and community support.
My favorite part was actually something Alfred said before the interview while they were waiting for Hawk. I’m paraphrasing a little, but he essentially said this: “I don’t have a problem with Cody being the quarterback if he’s the guy who gives the team the best chance to win. What I have a problem with is Cody being the quarterback and then passing the ball 50 times a game.”

He blew off the last interview that was linked on here, didn't he?
The one with Vic and Gary? He’s certainly doing a good job pissing off almost everybody this year.

Alfred asked about Darrel Scott
Hawkins answer was “Well Rodney’s been playing great. Rodney’s had been over 100 yards the last couple of games. Rodney went over a hundred yards this game…..”

Must of been an intramural game.
Hawkins didn’t same anything new other than he dosen’t know how his team did rushing against Texas.

Rodney is better
Alright Trader “Micheal Moore” Jesse, you are so clever with statistics! Rodney is a better back period. He has been way more productive overall. Do you use your witty stats when you attempt to pick girls up?

but that isn't what he said
If he just came out and said we think Rodney is a better back, I think everyone here would be fine with it. But instead we hear about Darrell having the best week of practice since becoming a buff and then gets 3 carries in the game…..Instead he bullshits some stats to try to make his case. If you want to be respected by the fans then be honest with them, trust me we can handle it.

Rodney Stewert might be to D Scott what Bobby Purifey was to Marcus Houston in the end
But as NYCskibum said, we hear Scott is healthly, best practice, etc and he sees very few plays. So I haven’t seen enough of Scott to make a determination. We hear Scott has nothing but talent and he his healthy, but we don’t see him in the game but for a few plays. I and many other Buff fans would like to know why? Rodney is a good back, he is not a game breaker. The stats are what they are, facts, nothing has been “Michael Moore” changed. If you want to follow and believe Hawkins blindly, be my guest. Most people that post here have grown tired of his act.

If I'm not mistaken...
flying a flag upside down is a sign of distress. I have to agree with the symbolism.

Hawk Love?
my take on this is that part of Dan’s MO is that he’s unable to criticize people. Translating that to his job, he will never come out and say that a player didn’t perform well, etc. Who knows, maybe DS’s best practice week ever is only half as good as Rodney’s. But, we’ll never know b/c Dan doesn’t have it in him to call someone out, including himself.

Perfect example of this

Rant
What do you expect? I mean, seriously. Dan Hawkins knows he’s under the gun and he knows that his son $uck$ (sorry). So, he tippy-toes around the whole redshirt thing. I was hoping someone would have asked him about Cody potentially playing this weekend vs. Cody getting 4+ games with nothing over his head. Also, I think someone needs to push him more on Darrel Scott, that was a BS answer.
I do think that if CU believes that we, as fans, need to continue to support this program, we deserve more in-depth answers from our football coach. I never see that happening with this guy.
However, I really hope the team comes together and pulls out a win this weekend. Funny, but I was more confident that was going to happen before I listened to that interview. Dan sounds scared and scatterbrained, like he looks on the sideline.
FUCK.
I think we can only hope for a win right now in spite of Dan Hawkins. I have absolutely zero confidence in this guy.

I couldn't do it
I couldn’t get through the whole inerview. I feel like every word out of his mouth is crap. I have no confidence in this guy. He sounds like he is just flying by the seat of his pants and has no in depth answer for anything. Whenever I see him on the sideline on TV, I just have to turn away because it makes me physically ill. I think you could say I have given up on the guy.

On the other hand....
I’ve never heard this DMac guy (because I don’t live there) but he sounds like a tool and here’s why.
Alfred was at least respectable to Hawk, whileDMac’s first questions are “We don’t understand …why there was talk about Tyler Hansen redshirting, and then being brought into the Texas game, a game that seemed to be over” and “Where are you with your son?” and “You said that you’re going to win ten games and where did you get that wrong.”
You wonder why Hawk gets defensive and standoffish? He’s doing this station a favor to come on their show and is a guest. I can almost guarantee that he’ll never be on this guys show again.
How about, “Coach, the plan all along was to redshirt Tyler this year unless Cody got hurt or the situation dramatically changed. You obviously feel like the stiuation changed in the Texas game. Why?”
“How did each of your quarterbacks take the change, and how do you see them in their new roles for the balance of the season”
etc…..
This guy puts one in Hawks earhole and comes off as Bud Light’s real men of Genius “Mr. Unathletic Sports Talk Host Guy.”
I don’t agree with what’s gone on this year at all, but I commend Hawk for not hanging up on this fool. I think it’s only out of respect for Alfred that he didn’t during this call.

easy big guy
Pelini slayer- I enjoy your enthusiasm and always like seeing new people posting on this board. I cannot speak for everyone, but I appreciate the grounded, thoughtful, and often brutally honest comments made by members regarding OUR struggling Buff athletics. The rah rah comments are what made me leave buffzone’s comment community. We are all buff fans and certainly are supportive of the buffs; we show that we care by being on the site. No one will cheer harder than me on Saturdays in Folsom, but let’s be honest with ourselves and not bicker. We, as buff fans, have every right to be worried as to the direction Hawk is taking our beloved program. Questioning him is not equivalent to turning our backs on the team.

Pelini Slayer is trolling over on our site
Spewing about how we’re gonna get out ass kicked this weekend, and how Kerry “Meyer” is our only good player. It would be best to avoid him.
I really hope you guys don’t win 40-10 though, I was at the game in Boulder in 2005 in which the score was close to that. :) Good game this weekend buff fans, it’ll be tough. Boulder is tough to play at no matter what the records are.

he's a little wacky in the head
I think he might actually be Dan Hawkins. Enjoy the game, I think it’ll be a good one
