Great news for a program in desperate need of an upgrade in facilities. Tip of the hat to edroyal19 for finding this story. From the Denver Post:

Groundbreaking could be as early as August for Colorado's basketball practice facility, CU athletic director Mike Bohn confirmed today.

The $10 million structure will be adjacent to the Coors Events Center and will be used by the men's and women's basketball programs and also the women's volleyball team.

Bohn said the facility will be funded by private donations. "We're ahead of schedule with that," Bohn said.

wow this is beyond good news

Every great program has nice facilities and I believe that its just time before CU becomes relevant in basketball.

I just wish we were in a position like Oregon with the Nike direct sponsorship to fund everything with elite facilities but I think this is just great news for a program on the way back up

speaking of facilities where does the football facilites rank in the big 12

I don’t expect them to be up there with Tex, Oklahoma but Im not sure we shouldn’t be 2nd tier with some others

probably about the middle, not dead last like b-ball is

Like you said Texas and OU, plus Nebraska’s are great. I would have to assume that OSU’s are really good with all the money they get and I’m sure Texas A&M’s are good. I bet we are at least on par with the rest of the schools. We could still use a permanent indoor practice facility at some point. Not sure if schools like Mizzou, Kansas, K-State, and Tech have one or not…

maybe more towards the bottom

This tells about all the indoor practice facilities in the Big 12. Sounds like all the other Big 12 north teams have nice permanent facilities. I’ve been around Dal Ward and to me the weight room and everything else looks awesome, but I’ve seen video of the Nebraska and Texas weight rooms and practice facilities, and well, they’re a little nicer… CU will always have to fight an uphill battle with this becuase I would rank CU dead last in the Big 12 as far as the school administration supporting athletics.
