Buffs Announce Date of Spring Practices and Games!

The Buffs will begin the 2009 campaign on March 31st, on of the latest start dates for CU football according to the Daily Camera.

The spring game will occur on April 25th at Folsom Field. Last year, the Buffs drew a record high attendance of 17,000 coming off a bowl appearance in 2007 and the highly touted recruiting class.

I don't believe spring practices are open to the public.

Spring Game

I am all for getting the team healthy for spring practice, but I would hope there is an increased emphasis on keeping all the players academically eligible for next year. I am sure that Hawk has it as a high priority, but an April 25th spring game is pushing up close to spring semester finals.

Finals are the first week of May so hopefully they will all be in good shape heading in.

Not sure if I am gonna make it to the game this year, but does anyone know why the NCAA squashed that concert/spring game deal that CU and a bunch of other schools were hosting last year. It seemed like such a great idea to me. I wonder if it can be tweaked in any way so that the NCAA gets their share of revenue and then they will stay out of it.

Oh that concert is a sore subject for me...

I had friends flying in as a I am a big fan of the band that was playing in Boulder. Basically the NCAA and the Gridiron Bash people didn’t really talk…what basically happened was the NCAA thought that it was against their policy to allow student athletes (football players) to get into the event for free, etc. All the original BS that the NCAA puts down. There are more sanctions that the NCAA sited but I blame Gridiron Bash as well for not running by the evil empire that is the NCAA policies. It would have been a great event for CU.

Actually..

Spring practices are open to the public. The past two years it has been only my friend and I representing the students, a few older gentlemen, and a few daily camera “reporters” there. Pretty poor showing. So anyone in the area should definatly come on by. Its a good time for sure, and when its cold they let you into the bubble!
