Running back Hugh Charles is to be added to the Saskatchewan Roughriders' practice roster Sunday.
Charles arrives after excelling for the University of Colorado Buffaloes over the past three seasons. He had rushing yardage totals of 858 (2005), 779 (2006) and 1,058 (2007). He scored eight TDs last season.
The 5-foot-7, 195-pounder attended the Cleveland Browns' mini-camp in May. The Riders needed running-back depth after Henri Childs, who also plays slotback, is lost for the season due to three bulging discs. Charles is to provide insurance in case Wes Cates, the CFL's leading rusher, is hurt.
