Thanks a lot, jerk

Thanks for posting that youtube video. If I wasn’t already mentally checked out at work, I’m completely worthless now.

28-17, CU. Go Buffs!

Hey fellas as much as I would like to stick around and chat during the game...

I’m headed out to watch it, good luck tonight, should be fun and would love to see the black helmets

Hey everybody!

Unfortunately I couldn’t make the game so I’ll be watching at home. I’ll predict 31-24 CU for the second straight game. Everyone at the game have a blast and cheer loud!

Go Buffs!

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 6:19 PM MDT reply actions

Wow

offense looks explosive to start, huh? False start, dropped pass, 4 yard pass.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 6:36 PM MDT reply actions

that was classy by hawkins

yeah, not too good so far, big play now

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 6:39 PM MDT reply actions

awesome!

kind of dead here, maybe that means everybody is just at the game, wish I was too!

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 6:43 PM MDT reply actions

Great opening drive

Hawkins looks good.

Get ’em Buffs. The Big 12 needs this one after my Cats ran it down their leg last night.

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 6:46 PM MDT reply actions

haha

I’m here and will be all game. Let’s hang out.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 6:47 PM MDT reply actions

Awesome first drive!!!

Lets slow down White and Devine now….much easier said than done….

MELO!!!

by abaca15 on Sep 18, 2008 6:48 PM MDT reply actions

Now a TO

CU could take control early.

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 6:49 PM MDT reply actions

I-formation, nice run!

I’ve been waiting all year to see that :-)

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 6:51 PM MDT reply actions

Rodney Stewart

looks like a beast out there. Very impressive start.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 6:51 PM MDT reply actions

Jesse Palmer

thinks Cody Hawkins is at his best in the redzone?

Strange. I thought that was one of our glaring offensive issues.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 6:51 PM MDT reply actions

EXCELLENT

That was a damn good throw and catch from Hawkins to Devenny.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 6:52 PM MDT reply actions

Yeah, really.

We have a young team that has clearly come out firing tonight. My only concern is we’ll start to show our age, instead of our considerable talent.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 6:55 PM MDT up reply actions

Wow

You guys are dominating.

What was up with that helicopter?

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 6:53 PM MDT reply actions

They showed...

…a wide shot of the stadium and there was a helicopter hovering a lot closer to the field than I would consider normal.

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 7:00 PM MDT up reply actions

Ahhh

Sorry I missed that. I haven’t any idea what it was about =[

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:01 PM MDT up reply actions

Ehh

Not your fault. Just thought maybe someone else noticed it.

Pat White and Noel Devine are sick. Hope your D slows them down.

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 7:03 PM MDT up reply actions

So...

how does our KOS manage to only get the ball to the 5 with the wind behind him AND in all that altitude? We can’t let these guys have 50-60 yard drives all night.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 6:57 PM MDT reply actions

very true

last kick he booted out of the endzone didn’t he? hopefully just one bad kick…

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 6:59 PM MDT up reply actions

Awful 3rd down defense.

They spread us out and created big lanes and our LBs just got eaten alive. They need to do a MUCH better job of shedding blocks. We don’t have the defensive speed to make those kinds of mistakes against this offense.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:01 PM MDT reply actions

It's OK

Buffs still have the lead!

by ccmachine on Sep 18, 2008 7:01 PM MDT reply actions

With the ball coming back, no less!

Obviously not going to get really worried or upset yet, but I wish the defense would have put up a little better fight on 3rd and goal.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:02 PM MDT up reply actions

Josh Smith

has GOT to stop fumbling kicks, but goodness did he make up for it with that excellent speed.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:03 PM MDT reply actions

Josh Smith!!! Why???

That has been my pet peeve all year, his fumbles. Everyone on here loves him though :-)

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 7:04 PM MDT reply actions

He's a fantastic talent

but the fundamentals are still very much a work in progress.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:05 PM MDT up reply actions

I've never been a fan

of reverses or screen plays, but at this point, why run the reverse? We’re moving forward, we have momentum, their defense is sitting back on their heels, and just like that we put ourselves in a deep hole.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:07 PM MDT reply actions

exactly

we need a little more i-formation running like last drive.

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 7:08 PM MDT up reply actions

And as a result

we have to punt. I just don’t understand why run the reverse there. That play needs SO many different things to go right in order to be effective, and when it doesn’t work, it’s almost always a disaster and potential drive-ender.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:09 PM MDT up reply actions

Come ON

You absolutely CANNOT miss that tackle behind the LOS. That’s a terrible job. This defense needs to show up.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:11 PM MDT reply actions

AGAIN

missing a tackle behind the line! They might have been able to stop them short anyway, but it should not have been close at all. Because of Hypolite’s missed tackle on 3rd down, it became 4th and inches. We’re lucky they have no balls and punted.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:15 PM MDT reply actions

I love Scott's running

on those last two plays. The line didn’t open any significant holes, he just plowed through the bodies and picked up 5, 6 yards each time. I think he’s probably our only back capable of doing that consistently.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:17 PM MDT reply actions

Fowler hasn't been back here in 12 years?? What?

lame, don’t bash CU fans if you haven’t been to a game it that long

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 7:21 PM MDT reply actions

He seemed a little touchy there...

…“You’ve had your fun, guys.”

Sounds like the other guys in the booth hit a bit of a sensitive spot there.

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 7:27 PM MDT up reply actions

lol

It must suck to be mocked by Jesse Palmer. I mean, his college career was decent, his pro career an absolute joke, and he’s best remembered now for being The Bachelor. Poor Chris Fowler.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:29 PM MDT up reply actions

Really?

Hawkins best option in 3rd & 5 was to heave it 15 yards out of bounds? Bummer.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:22 PM MDT reply actions

Penalty will negate some of the play

but a GREAT job by whoever it was to completely stop White’s momentum. That was a nice job.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:26 PM MDT reply actions

I had Wyoming, too

Air Force I hadn’t though of. That’s probably a pretty good guess. I was thinking BYU, as well.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:30 PM MDT up reply actions

Would Northern Arizona count?

Flagstaff is pretty high, too. and New Mexico isn’t quite high enough, though seeing a game at their home stadium is a very enjoyable experience.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:32 PM MDT up reply actions

oohh, nailed that one!

Not to hard if you’re from around here though… :-)

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 7:35 PM MDT up reply actions

Yeah

you nailed that one, sir. Wyoming was pretty easy, and I can’t believe I let Air Force get by me.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:36 PM MDT up reply actions

Excellent

defensive recognition on the 3rd and 10 WR screen. They sniffed it out and shut it down. Good defensive series.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:28 PM MDT reply actions

That's where experience hurts

Hawkins could have hit the short man who was open and could have picked up the first, but he went for the secondary target 15 yards downfield. At least we picked up the first on the next play =p

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:33 PM MDT reply actions

Hahaha

the start of the second quarter and they’re talking about the altitude? Maybe Bill Stewart is about to believe in oxygen.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:34 PM MDT reply actions

Damn

That hurts. Time for y’all’s defense to step up.

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 7:37 PM MDT up reply actions

Here it comes.

The team showing their age. Wow. That was a TERRIBLE throw by Hawkins. Most of the time, he makes good decisions, but he seems to suffer from Brian Griese Syndrome of hitting a defender who just happens to be standing RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR RECEIVER.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:37 PM MDT reply actions

good stand

we need at least 3 more points before the half, need that 2 score lead

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 7:40 PM MDT reply actions

I can't believe they're punting again.

Maybe I’m just far too testosterone driven to be a professional, but why not send your offense out and challenge the defense to stop you? It was what, 2 yards?

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:41 PM MDT reply actions

I like this Stewart...

…at running back. Good runner. Not sure I quite agree with the Darren Sproles comparisons, as I think Sproles had better moves, but he is a really good RB for a smaller guy.

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 7:44 PM MDT reply actions

he's a true freshman!

Give him a few years! I always hated sproles at k-state (sorry bro) but he had a hell of a game against the broncos last week

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 7:45 PM MDT up reply actions

I know...

…that’s part of why I’m so impressed.

How could you hate Sproles, other than the fact that he terrorized opposing defenses? He was just about the nicest kid in college football.

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 7:47 PM MDT up reply actions

I hated him because I hate K-State (again, sorry)

He was a great player, and I’ll take your word for it that he is a great guy :-)

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 7:49 PM MDT up reply actions

That I can understand...

…never been a big fan of CU, either, but that’s why we’re fans, right?

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 7:50 PM MDT up reply actions

exactly

Good to have you here, I’ve just got to keep it real, haha!

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 7:52 PM MDT up reply actions

I always liked Sproles

and I know nothing about him. He just looks like he shuts up, plays his ass off, and has a helluva time doing it. Props to him for starting to make a name for himself in SD.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:50 PM MDT up reply actions

I wish...

…he’d get traded. I think he could be a pretty good back if he wasn’t stuck behind LT. But maybe that’s just the homer in me.

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 7:51 PM MDT up reply actions

I think he's perfect where he is.

He’s not a feature back. He’s a change of pace runner, and he shouldn’t be given a full workload.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:53 PM MDT up reply actions

You're probably right...

…but that’s what everyone said about him coming out of h.s. But he was a very good every-down back at K-State, and had a pretty good game last week when LT got hurt. Again, though, that’s one game. Not exactly a representative sample size.

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 7:56 PM MDT up reply actions

Often times

you will see a backup player succeed in a game where he wasn’t game planned for. The Denver defense game planned for LT, and when Sproles comes in, things change up a bit in that offense, so the gameplan was thrown right out the window. If Sproles were to become a regular starter, teams would gameplan to stuff him on the outside and would be fully prepared for a lot of screens. Sproles excels in space, and the defense would be gunning to eliminate that space.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:59 PM MDT up reply actions

When Rodney Stewart signed

they was very little grainy high school footage of him playing, and he was a last second surprise decision. I’m thinking we’ve really found something in this kid, though I can see injuries playing a role in the near future. He runs very high and takes a LOT of hits.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:48 PM MDT up reply actions

Yeah what the hell?

That’s an awful play by whoever their defender is. He clearly just took a run at Josh Smith.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:45 PM MDT reply actions

ARE YOU KIDDING?

No foul??? Let’s take a run at their players. Clearly they aren’t calling it.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:46 PM MDT up reply actions

Radio guys

said no foul because they judged the ball uncatchable.

by holly96 on Sep 18, 2008 7:49 PM MDT up reply actions

So what?

It obviously wasn’t pass interference because the ball was at least 5 yards past Smith when he got hit. But apparently it wasn’t hitting a defenseless receiver. I dunno. They make such a huge deal about protecting players and then they let a blatant cheap one get right by.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:51 PM MDT up reply actions

I don't know

I can’t see it, so I was just reporting what they said.

by holly96 on Sep 18, 2008 7:53 PM MDT up reply actions

=p

Thanks for at least telling us what they were thinking, because the TV guys are…distracted, to say the least.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 7:54 PM MDT up reply actions

I think the radio guys are confused

I don’t think they were going to call pass interference. Looked like the idea was a personal foul for unnecessary roughness.

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 7:52 PM MDT up reply actions

That would have been a pick 6. The Colorado defense looks pretty good.

by ccmachine on Sep 18, 2008 8:00 PM MDT reply actions

They're okay.

WVU is honestly beating themselves on offense. Pat White throwing few passes, and when he does they’re either dropped by his receivers or his defenders. The tackling has been dismal and their offense is very, very conservative.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:02 PM MDT up reply actions

way too many chances on those returns, that one probably would have gone into the end zone. .

I like what he's doing

may as well try to block the punt or get a good return

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 8:04 PM MDT up reply actions

Interesting move by Stewart.

Maybe he’s trying to force Colorado to punt from their own endzone so they can try to block the punt.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:18 PM MDT reply actions

F U man. Not you, man! Anyone but you!

Thats an awesome scene, must be on some channel I don’t get :-)

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 8:20 PM MDT up reply actions

It's on TNT.

The problem is it’s on TNT, so it’s entirely censored. “Don’t mess with me, Sean” doesn’t have the same effect. I love the part where he’s like “He used to lay down a stick, a belt, and a wrench.” and his reasoning for it, but TNT censored it and the scene fell apart. Hate.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:22 PM MDT up reply actions

Haha

Movies with tons of cussing on basic cable can be hillarious (but also annoying). I saw some clip of the Big Lebowski (one of my all-time faves) all cut -up on you tube and it was hillarious. It was the “this is what happens when you F___ A STRANGER IN THE A__!!” scene.

I hate that call

with the offensive pass interference because it’s so inconsistent. You see that play ALL THE TIME, and they rarely throw the flag. If it’s illegal, it just needs to be called every time it happens.

Where in Texas?

I’m in Houston. For another eight months, anyway.

Oh, nice.

I’m rarely in that area, but I’ve been there a few times in my years here.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:50 PM MDT up reply actions

Yeah, I don’t get up to Katy much, either. Nice area though.

Did ya get through Ike OK?

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 8:51 PM MDT up reply actions

We had no problems over here.

Some neighbors got wrecked, but our place just lost a fence and some other things. You turn out aight?

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:52 PM MDT up reply actions

Yeah

The wind was kind of scary for a while, blew 90 for three hours or so. But our development is pretty new, so no trees to fall on anything. We got power back pretty quickly. Just a few shingles blown off and some damage to the fence.

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 8:53 PM MDT up reply actions

Glad to hear it.

I work at a hotel, and I’ve heard a whole lot of really bad stories from guests talkin about their homes being annihilated. Tough stuff. I do wish the local networks would ease up on the Ike coverage, though.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:56 PM MDT up reply actions

Yeah, for sure on the networks

They need to calm down. I was happy w/ them pre-storm, but now they’re getting annoying.

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 8:59 PM MDT up reply actions

I made a huge deal

about the networks not showing anything but Ike coverage, and my bet that they would show Oprah monday morning. It was slightly amusing.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 9:00 PM MDT up reply actions

I've probably been to about 50 CU games, 1 game up in Ft. Collins, and a couple of Montana Grizzly games

can’t believe I’m not there tonight. I want to catch some SEC games sometime in my life though…

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 8:47 PM MDT up reply actions

by Jon Johnston on Sep 18, 2008 8:41 PM MDT reply actions

Yeah

This looks like the Broncos offense in the 3rd quarter. Open in the first half, moving the ball well, and then stalling in the 3rd quarter because they’re overthinking themselves. I think Stewart needs a breather.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:42 PM MDT reply actions

and Devenny

needs to low his shoulder and make a move. That was poor execution.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:42 PM MDT up reply actions

speaking of devenny...

Where has geer been tonight? I though he would be a factor in the game

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 8:44 PM MDT up reply actions

Geer was open earlier

and Hawkins just about hit him for a big play on the first drive. Since then………..nothin.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:46 PM MDT up reply actions

Colorado can't keep going three and out

With the speed WVU has they are going to break one sooner or later.

by ccmachine on Sep 18, 2008 8:46 PM MDT reply actions

Agreed.

The offense needs to open it up and take a shot. This pounding the rock with Stewart crap is getting on my nerves.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:48 PM MDT reply actions

Yeah

They even had a spy on White, and he totally whiffed.

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 8:49 PM MDT up reply actions

He was the first guy I was talkin about.

His reaction was horrendous, and he obviously isn’t going to catch White from behind. Very disappointing effort. What’s with the ends suddenly pinning their ears back and rushing wide on the edges on that play?

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:51 PM MDT up reply actions

McKnight has to catch that ball.

but at least they opened it up. Is it me or are Craig James and Jesse Palmer REALLY good friends?

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:53 PM MDT reply actions

I am

ABSOLUTELY tired of this crap. You need 4 yards, WHY DO YOU INSIST ON THROWING A ONE YARD ROUTE?? I hate it.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:54 PM MDT reply actions

This is ridiculous.

This is what I don’t like about Papa Hawk and his game management. He doesn’t seem to have his finger on the pulse of the game. His offense has become extremely conservative and painfully predictable. You aren’t going to win games with that shit. Yes, I’m getting upset, lol.

I was wrong.

We'll carry the banner high!

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 8:58 PM MDT up reply actions

Hawkins

needs to bench Smith for the rest of this game as a returner. He lets a ball bounce on the 30, and fields it twice inside the 5 without any serious pressure. He needs to sit him down.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:58 PM MDT reply actions

Scott

showing some weaknesses in the WVU defense right there. They looked very slow to react and he burned them for taking poor angles as well.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 8:59 PM MDT reply actions

he never does though

He fumbles or makes some dumb decisions and he’s always right back out there, great catch and run by scott

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 8:59 PM MDT reply actions

You're right

He fumbles kicks all the time, and then he doesn’t seem to know where he is on the field when fielding punts. His explosiveness is obvious, but the coaches need to pull back on the reigns a little bit with him. He isn’t mature enough yet to be a consistent force for us.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 9:01 PM MDT up reply actions

Off-topic, but I need to kill commercial time, lol.

How about Leonardo DiCaprio, huh? I’m watching the trailer for his new movie, Body of Lies, and it amazes me how he’s transformed himself from the most hated guy in the country after that Titanic crap to a fairly legit bad ass with his string of movies where he’s a man’s man.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 9:03 PM MDT reply actions

by ccmachine on Sep 18, 2008 9:07 PM MDT up reply actions

God, Crosby was a man-beast

I remember watching him in Manhattan one year. His foot hitting the ball just made a different sound than anything I’d ever heard from a kicker.

by TB on Sep 18, 2008 9:08 PM MDT up reply actions

not too good so far this year

He’s no Mason Crosby, but I don’t think he’s really had a chance to show what he can do

by nebraskasux on Sep 18, 2008 9:08 PM MDT up reply actions

3rd and 22

so let’s throw a 4 yard pass. This is ridiculous. Stewart needs to be taken out. The playbook needs to be opened. I’m getting legitimately angry because we should be dominating this game.

by A.J. Haefele on Sep 18, 2008 9:07 PM MDT reply actions

two things

first of all the offensive line isn’t giving him enough time to throw deep.

second, all of the DB"s dropped deep on that play and gave up underneath.

what they needed as someone crossing under the DB’s.

I disagree with opening the playbook. They’re playing against an explosive team. Rather ball control, maintain the ball.

Now that...

…may rank as the worst offensive play call in this game. Even worse than the QB sneak on 4th and one. A slow-developing pass play from your own end zone. Dumb.
