It's a great scene here overcast 14th row and a great view. Cu is in black and gold. Great day for sure!

RPT from Rock M checking in...
Got the game fired up on HD and considering I’m still recovering from our game in St. Louis last night, it’s CU-CSU for the foreseeable future.
By the way, I see you pretty much ripped our live thread code. Luckily, I consider that a form of flattery!
Regardless, represent the conference well. Who all is here right now?

The pass defense scared the crap out of me
Who knew Juice Williams could throw a deep ball?

yeah it left a little to be desired...
but offensively you guys have so many weapons and could average 50 a game
I gave you some props in the thread
and yes it should be thought of as a form of flattery.

Hey everybody
Smart is looking good so far, he’s all over the field like Dizon was. Wish the D-line could get a little more pressure on their QB
Great play call on the screen
Capitalize on a defense that’s overcommitting and trying to force agression

Colorguard, I think
But I’m sure our puzzled looks are similar…

Is Josh Smith to lanky to be a punt returner?
He’s looked pretty sketchy so far. I’d like to see some small quick cutting guy like Roman H or Bloom back there. Like Rodney Stewart. I forgot, we had some small dude as punt returner but he’s injured right?
I don't think lankiness is indicative of return ability
Some might classify this as lanky.
It’s all about acceleration and shiftiness. Size shouldn’t be a big factor.

Name drop aside
I don’t think it requires someone built like Darren Sproles to return kicks. Returning, especially punts, is pretty much just an innate ability some guys possess.

touchdown right in the endzone I am sitting in. Beautiful ball by hawk
Shoulder to Shoulder...http://www.ralphiereport.com/
nice kick offs by davis, crosby-esqe even (well not quite, he always kicked them out of the endzone)
We didn’t have many kicks into the end-zone last year did we?
yeah
punter looked lost, too, didn’t he?
as in “I suppose maybe I should pick this up”…

like it's gonna be another long year
Haha, I’ll try not to be too mean corn, I just have a real passionate hatred for your team. I’ll be nice…
it was
a win. early we looked great, but we need to work heavily on run blocking.
defense looked much much much improved.

Win over Va Tech is very much a possibility, no?
I’ve been down on Va Tech for most of the offseason. It now looks very possible for a battle of 4-0 teams to start October.
http://www.RockMNation.com
Chance McDanielson for Heisman
as
long as we take care on special teams. VaTech played their usual ugly game Saturday, scoring on defense and special teams plays.
Too bad they lost, though.
Yeah, Nebraska – Mizzou should be 4-0. Should be fun.

Here is the drive that the buffs need 7 to really put a stranglehold on the game

Josh Smith
Too lanky, eh?

Joking aside
there is a big difference between the two different returns. Some guys, like Smith, can excel in the return game thanks to plus long speed, ala Jerome Mathis of the Texans two years ago. Guys that can excelerate north south with subtle cuts can be great kick returners.
Good punt returners, on the other hand, have superior lateral agility and can bounce east-west without losing much in quickness. Thus far, Smith tends to gather himself a little too much in his cuts in the punt return game. It’s too early to call one way or the other, but it isn’t lankiness persay that could keep him from being a great punt returner, but less- than-ideal-though-still-solid lateral agility.
Stewart looks like he has it, but he’s a little cavalier with the ball as well.
Very explosive in kick return
I like his style, too. No jukes , or switching fields, just get there. Fast.
Favoring Stewart. It is electric here buffs need 7 here
Shoulder to Shoulder...http://www.ralphiereport.com/
Edge speed appears to be lacking
Herrod had great bend on his sack, but thus far, nobody’s turning the corner or forcing the tackle up field to set up interior moves. Perhaps a little blitz package for the second half?
boom!
drive killer, look the crowd shots of the CSU fans, quick.

Hey woodrow!
Where you watching the game? You got money on it? I love to hit vegas during college football season, only sport I feel comfortable betting on. My CU buddies give me crap for betting on the buffs, so I generally don’t. Last time I bet big (for me anyway) was the Fiesta Bowl against Oregon, that was bad… But I made it all back and more with the NU-Miami Rose Bowl the next day!
Retiring to my side of the blogosphere for the next little bit...
Impressions:
- Shaping up to be barnburner. Par for the course for this rivalry, eh?
- Colorado looks extremely talented, but man can they be inconsistent. Is that the big question this season?
Best guess for tonight at the half? 34-24, CU.

No
it’ll be a three point game. nail-biter.
it’s supposed to be, it’s a rivalry game, eh?

it has to be kind of wild to run with that guy clear across the field.

Was the cut there outside?
hard to tell from that angle, but one thing’s for sure, dude’s got serious jets.
I hope scott gets some carries 2nd half
1 carry so far? I was hoping and thinking he’d get 10+ today
hell
man, has he had time to learn the offense yet?

you would hope so
He seems to be a smart kid and an incredible physical specimen, the knock against him was he was out of shape
Has he been tackled yet?
As in brought to the ground?
If Colorado can force a quick punt here, I’d like to see Scott come back out and try to wear down the D.
aha!
here’s the right i was looking for…..

nice
line surge on the goal line play. CSU got off the ball faster, but it looked like CU had a much better push.
impressive.

CU
has lost some focus here or something.

impressive

Have a good night and I wish you and your family good health. Can’t say the same about your team though… sorry, I guess I’m a bad person :-)
Good Game...
Dan Hawkins is a great guy and this team has a bright future…looking forward to following them this year
everyone seems to has gone
so I’ll say goodbye. Lots of positives about tonights game, CSU didn’t really do much offensively at all, we made some bad miscues but still won pretty easily. Sperry 1 catch 3 yards, awesome! Scott had a nice 1st game and cody looked great as the guy who makes all the plays he needs to and he is pretty much a coach on the field. He’ll never be a NFL superstar but he is a solid college QB who could take a good team all the way no problem.
D-Scott being interviewed now on TV, seems like a great kid, I hope he kicks some major ass at CU.
Prep hard for EWU next week. I’m not saying I’m worried but we need to bring our A game, they have a real live football team. Take care of business and then who knows against WVU, I think we can win that one. I’ll be at both of those, so no blogging for me! Later
Thanks NBSux, it was a good one. I also made the jumbotron tonight
so it was a good win. Thanks for everyone who got us over the 100 comment mark. Not bad for only being here a couple weeks. Thanks to RockMNation and CornNation for chiming in a lot. More review tomorrow after I sober up a little bit. Go Buffs!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didnt catch it at first glance on the game thread but now that I took a second look I see it...
well I guess somethings never change….Looks like the Buff’s took care of business nonetheless……I think Coach Hawkins is gonna have his boys in the Hunt for the BIG 12 North this year and from here on out………I really like what I saw from the team last year…..and like I said I’ll be sure to check you guys out on here from time to time….Im such a blog whore…..
