Where do you want the Showdown Played...
Much has been made in the last week about the potential end of the Rocky Mountain Showdown in Denver. With College Football being a huge revenue generator, schools accross the country are hungry for both home football games but also looking to pad the pockets of the athletic department wherever possible. In this day when money ultimately has the ability to drive the success of a program, schools both here in Colorado and elsewhere are facing the tough decision of playing a neutral site game and assuring a larger payoff or playing a home game and potentially boosting season ticket sales and alumni support. Mixed with all that is the need to be competitive and certainly a home game against your rival school can often mean a win when a neutral site game might increase the odds of a loss. What about us? What about the fans? Clearly our say in the matter is small but where would you Buffalo fans like this game to be played? Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins...where are you likely to watch?

How about a hybrid?
When CSU is the host, we play in Denver. If CU is the host, we play in Boulder.

I added this to the poll, but
is this really a serious option…I think on principal alone you couldn’t allow that if you were CSU…It basically says we don’t have any fans. Think of it this way if that option was switched would CU really want to play at Fort Collins every other year but at invesco when it was a “Home” game for them. I doubt it.

I don't think CSU has any desire to play the game in the Fort
This is there cash cow and like you said in your post, a program trying to build needs money and games at Folsom and Mile High double CSU’s game day money. Do I think this would be CSU’s first choice? No. But if CU decided to walk away from the game, it would be a major problem for CSU athletic revenue. Like we have been saying this game means a lot more to CSU. I think this may be the only option for CSU from the way AD Bohn is talking about a sixth home game.

Interesting thought...
Would probably be one of the only Home and “Home” configurations of it’s kind in the country

Scrap the game
It doesnt benefit the Buffs. Plus when CU consistently sells their allotment and CSU cant and then opens the tix up to everyone and CU fans buy CSU’s allotment CSU still gets paid. That is BS. Why should CSU get the extra benefit of CU’s fans buying the tix the rams cant sell. If CSU doesnt want to play in Boulder, well I say let them find another school to play in the opening weekend. I would bet CSU would have a hard time filling up Hughes with just CSU fans if the game is played there.

The Rams
will get a reality check next weekend when they try to sell out Sacramento State at Hughes. It should click there that they can’t afford to lose this game and that is when they should make the call to Bohn and meet CU’s demands.

Hmm...
I hate the atmosphere at Invesco (at least for college games) so I’m glad next year will be at Folsom. It is very unlikely that CSU will call our bluff and have the game at Hughes cause they lose so much money. So as bad as that last option may sound thats what I would say for now. A lot of people on other sites have been saying we should scrap the series with them because “CSU sucks and we don’t gain anything from playing them” but lets not forget how many times they’ve beaten us lately. They are our in-state rival and I think it would be bad if we didn’t play them at least once every other year.
On scheduling in general CU should have 6 games at Folsom every year and I would say shoot for 7 if they can. Teams like Texas, OU and NU have at least 7 home games every year and personally I would love it if we could too. I understand that they can schedule lame teams and still sell out the stadium (which we can’t) but with a little work we should be able to get some decent teams to come here without us having to play them at their house, or make some 2 for 1 deals like we did with Fresno St. and Hawaii (very decent non-BCS teams). I bet we could get Wyoming or Air Force to do deals like that as well. If we played a combination of 3 teams like that (including CSU) and then one strong BCS team that would be fine with me. I’ve always loved that CU plays a lot of good teams non-conference, but lets not kill ourselves.

I think the days that CSU
beats us is over. We are going to a different level. Hopefully

Oh, I hope so my brotha
and I am hoping for (and expecting) a big win this year, but we have ALWAYS had more talent then them but they have found a way to win (occasionally). It’s just that some people seem to think that they have no business even setting foot on the same field as us, and I don’t think that is really the case…
I guess I was way off base about CSU not calling our bluff and moving the game to Hughes. I might have to make the trek up there for the game. I remember going to some game years ago with a friend who was going to school up there (not a CU game) and it was a total dump. Didn’t they move in a bunch of temporary stands for the last CU-CSU game up there?

I hope so
I hope CU gets to that greater level, I think it is more indicative that CSU has fallen off dramatically, this was a perenial bowl team that has gone to a doormat of the MWC, I think they may have cursed that program by letting Sonny go the way they did.
