Iowa State Coach Gene Chizik is the New Head Coach at Auburn!

Former Texas coordinator and current Iowa State head coach Gene Chizik is now interviewing for the Auburn head coaching job. Hmmm. Let's see about this one. Tommy Tuberville or Gene Chizik. I am sure Chizik is a wonderful coach but this is now getting a little embarrassing for the Unversity of Auburn. Chizik has five wins in two years at Iowa State and I not sure a ton of people are feeling that next year Chizik will break through. The lession looks to be that no one really wants a job that will be controlled by boosters.

TCU's head coach Gary Patterson also took his name out of the running.

If I were Auburn I would call Tommy back and see if he would come back.

UPDATE:   ESPN is reporting that Chizik has in fact accepted the Head Coaching job at Auburn University.

Yeah

I don’t see how you can justify a guy who in his worst year at a program won as many games as the guy you’re interviewing for his former job has won in the past two seasons.

I can't imagine this is a popular choice at Auburn.

The next question, does Dan McCarney come back?…K-State brought back Snyder.

Comical...Alabama got Nick Saban and

Auburn retools with…wait for it…Gene Chizik. That won’t send any fear down the spine of Tide fans. They have to be laughing there ass off right now!

man

I was hoping Turner Gil would get a good job this yr.

He deserves a high profile job, anyone does if they can make Buffalo respectable, BUFFALO!!

That is too funny

Auburn is doomed.

What does this mean for CU recruiting?

According to rivals.com, James White, an all purpose back chose ISU over CU. Is CU back in the running? Will CU be able to land any of the 9 others that committed to ISU?

According to rivals, the Buffs were only in on one of their commits

and that was indeed RB James White who was a 3*. Smaller scat back. He will probably wait to see who the new coach is and then make his decision. I assume it is crazy hectic around those parts right now

Do we really want ISU recruits?

James White may be a good player, but sounds similar to Stewart so I doubt he would see much time anytime soon.

**** Turner Gill interviewing for the ISU job...

Really really not good. The guy can coach.

Concur

I was hoping that if Hawkins had a set back next year that we would look at Gill coming here. That guy can coach and obviously turn around a program, someone must be smiling on ISU.

anyone that can buffalo into a decent program deserves a much better job than ISU

I just hope he doesn’t take it, lol.

We already have enough trouble in the north

I am surprised he didn't get a serious shot at Auburn

I wonder if he may wait it out and take the Norte Dame job next year.

I guess I shouldn't say surprised

I am just surprised Auburn would get rid of Tubberville and then their idea of a step up is a guy who accomplished nothing at ISU, there were so many better coaches they could of targeted, I am curious how much race had to do with it.

Come on

It would be awesome some day to live in a world where this doesn’t occur to anyone. I hate everything about this.

I agree, the more I read about it, the more it stinks

The funny thing is that the fans in Auburn seem to hate it most of all, judging by their reactions, I guess they will reap what they sow.
