Gameday Buff Bites

Colorado_mediumIowa State could have as many as three starters out on the offensive line according to The Gazette. Gene Chizik thinks his Iowa State team is a MASH unit...Oh coach Chizik, you have nothing on the Buffs in regards to injuries:

Three starters are injured — to what degree Chizik didn't say — and could miss the Cyclones' 12:30 p.m. game at Folsom Field.

Right tackle Ben Lamaak, a former Cedar Rapids Kennedy standout, could miss his second straight game with a leg injury. Guards Reggie Stephens and Kelechi Osemele are ailing and may be forced to watch from the sidelines.

Colorado_mediumThere hasn't been a lot of news on the revenge factor today vs. Iowa State but last year the Buffs embarrassingly let the game against the Cyclones slip away.

Colorado_mediumKyle Ringo of the Daily Camera calls this game the "Basement Battle." How about this dreary offensive statistic:

The Buffs are the only team in the league not to gain 400 yards total offense in a game this season, and they are the lowest scoring team in the conference by more than a touchdown.

Colorado_medium23 forced turnovers puts Iowa State in a tie for sixth nationally in that category. Can't play with that fire today!

Colorado_mediumEven Buffs coaches are getting dinged up...what the heck is going on?

Hagan, wearing a wrap on his right knee, said he was lucky to even be upright after tripping over his Saint Bernard puppy at the top of his unlighted stairs - he didn't deem it necessary to switch on a light, therefore not seeing the dog - and taking 17 steps the hard way.

Colorado_mediumCU commit QB Clark Evans does it again. His Los Alamitos H.S. team won last night on a Mike Shanahan-like play call, going for two to win the game with less than a minute to play. Clark Evans lit up the stat sheet again:

Evans accounted for all 82 yards on the drive and finished the game with 109 yards rushing and a touchdown on 12 carries. He also completed 13 of 26 passes for 193 yards, had two TDs and an interception.

Colorado_mediumIn news unrelated to today's game, the Buffs women's soccer team beat the top ranked Oklahoma St. Cowboys yesterday, earning them a spot in the Big 12 championship game. The Buffs won in double overtime on penalty kicks. This will be the third time in four years that the team plays in the Big 12 championship.

CU needs to make sure and get theirs today without making stupid mistakes.  Let's go Buffs!
