College Football Polls

Found this over on Roll Bama Roll. Should Penn State be #2 or should Texas Tech? My feeling is that Tech still has to play Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. Win those two, they are the #1 team in the country hands down. Hopefully, LSU beats Bama and somehow Penn State loses. Trying to figure out if there is anyway we can have an All Big 12 national title. Although Florida looked pretty unstoppable yesterday. That being said, Georgia isn't good. I don't think the Florida win warranted a jump over OU in the AP as Woodrow is quick to remind me that the AP means nothing and OU is still ranked ahead of Texas in the Coaches Poll.

You know

The Georgia game was a real bummer. It ended up being a serious beatdown, but the turning point in the game was the Florida INT returned 80 some odd yards to the 1 yard line. The score was 14-3 at the time and Georgia was driving. There was “questionable contact” made by the defensive back on the play, but it went uncalled and he ended up with the game-changing pick. If That contact gets called, or the ball gets to its intended receiver, you’re looking at a 14-10 game with the momentum on the side of the Bulldogs. After that play, nothing went right. At all.

Good teams find a way to win those games even if a call goes against them. There was still plenty of football to be played at that point and instead of fighting they just rolled over.

I don’t think TTech can make it through its next three weeks unscathed but I also think Bama has got to be one of the softest #1’s in a long time. I’ll actually be surprised if they get past LSU this weekend. I have a feeling that a BIG 12 team is going to be left out of the championship game but them the breaks. My guess is Florida vs Penn State.

Texas still has a really good shot at reaching the title game

Tech has a snowball’s chance in hell of winning in Norman and Bama is going down at least once (in my opinion). Texas is still the south favorite because of their schedule the rest of the way. Then it’ll be really close between Texas and Florida for that #2 slot if they both win out. Too bad Penn State has such an easy path to the title game, because I think USC or OU would wipe the floor with them.

Yea I thought that too

That was my reaction to the BCS standings as well, Texas still has a shot at it. Not sure how the tiebreakers work out in the south if Texas wins out and OU beats Tech, with all of them sitting with one loss at the end of the year since Texas beat OU, OU beat Tech, and Tech beat Texas, no clear head to head winner. Anyone know how that tiebreaker would go? I was also thinking depending on how that tiebreaker went it is conceivable that Texas would be able to get to the title game without winning the division a la Nebraska in 2001 when we beat them if they win out and Bama and Tech lose.

I would be shocked if Tech ran the table and Bama too. Alabama still really had one awesome half against Georgia and that’s about it, they haven’t played much of anyone else. And Tech had the game of their lives against Texas, but still let Texas back into that game and had to come from behind at the end. I think OSU knocks them off this weekend. Hell the way Baylor is playing Baylor could get them as well.
