hey guys

just got home from work to see a great gadget play

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 5:27 PM MDT reply actions

Ya

The announcers are pretty awful

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 5:28 PM MDT reply actions

let me start by saying

that josh smith is a complete moron and I bet that hawkins regrets he gave that kicker a scholarship, he is horrible. was he kicking barefoot? he’s been wearing shoes in the previous games

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 5:34 PM MDT reply actions

?

Whats up with smith?

I personally think that Goodman will be alright but it was stupid to give him a scholarship just because of 1 chip shot

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 5:35 PM MDT reply actions

what's up everyone

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.

by Owen on Oct 4, 2008 5:37 PM MDT reply actions

you didn't see that?

on texas’ kick off he didn’t kneel down and just walked slowly out of the front of the endzone, it was about an inch from being a safety

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 5:38 PM MDT reply actions

He just wasn't thinking on that one at all

Hawk

Go recruit some DB’s

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 5:43 PM MDT up reply actions

I'm afraid these announcers are itching to...

turn this into a 3 hour Texas infommercial

yeah, I hate this crew, we always get them for FSN games

We’ve been spoiled the last couple weeks with ESPN broadcasts

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 5:54 PM MDT up reply actions

mccoy is not michael vick

we have to go at him, not stay back on our heels

I think these guys might be bording on being a little gay for Colt McCoy

hey guys

wow, i expected it to be 28-0 the way they were playing

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 6:13 PM MDT reply actions

yeah, we are lucky to be in the game still

is anybody listening to the radio or anything, what is the story with walters?

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 6:15 PM MDT reply actions

im trying to find a radio so I can shut these idiots off

Why are we stuck with FSN, I would rather have a local FSN crew then these stooges.

Are they ABC, then ESPN rejects? Couldn’t make the cut of teh 20 games that ESPN covers so they can to FSN is what im thinking

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 6:17 PM MDT reply actions

wow

0/3, alright goodman can go to the bench

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 6:17 PM MDT reply actions

where is Scott??

he needs 20 carries in this game

by CleBUFFS on Oct 4, 2008 6:22 PM MDT reply actions

gotta have a TD

Offense can’t keep settling for Attempted FG’s, lol

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 6:26 PM MDT reply actions

ya

I think dump it to Scott a couple times see if he can break one

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 6:30 PM MDT up reply actions

yeah, I probably would be too

I’m not mad at the D, they haven’t been that bad, it’s the rest of the team

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 6:39 PM MDT up reply actions

typical josh smith

8 yards deep and he brings it out

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 6:39 PM MDT reply actions

:-) yeah, they are good

but if we didn’t have a bunch of clowns playing offense and special teams we could be ahead right now

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 6:45 PM MDT reply actions

wow, that FSU/Miami game looked crazy

too bad we had to watch that lame Tech/K-State game

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 6:48 PM MDT reply actions

Ya

I had a radio at work and it was the game on, it really wasn’t that close. FSU screwed up a punt that gave miami a safety, another that hit one of teh FSU blockers and gave them the ball at their own 18 or something and a Pick 6.

Im a big Miami fan but they are clearly a yr or 2 away from anything including middle of the ACC

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 6:53 PM MDT up reply actions

But

They were calling Travis Benjamin the next Hester he returned it to mid field ish every time

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 6:58 PM MDT up reply actions

No stick w/Hawkins...

I don’t feel like it is really his fault tonight, he’s been under a lot of pressure tonight and it’s clear the O-line injury issues are causing some issues with a team as talented at Texas.

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.

by Owen on Oct 4, 2008 6:52 PM MDT up reply actions

ya

I just hate hawkins for some reason that I really don’t know why

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 6:53 PM MDT up reply actions

Hawkins has the ability to...

be a decent “game manager” type QB. Now I hate that term but when this team get’s healthy, which unfortunatly looks like next year, he won’t have to win the game. Once the O-Line is in place and you can feed Scott, and Stewart the ball a good chunk of the game all Hawkins will have to do is take care of the ball and make good decisions. He can do that when it’s not all on his shoulders. The problem right now is…it’s all on his shoulders because they are down 21 and the line is hurting big time.

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.

by Owen on Oct 4, 2008 6:57 PM MDT up reply actions

yeah, I agree, hopefully next year will unfold that way

but he hasn’t really made the BASIC throws that every D-1 QB needs to make this year. Maybe I was fooled last year. He looked like a stud in the second half of the bowl game against Bama and I really thought he could be a great QB. He has definitely regressed this year so far.

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 6:59 PM MDT up reply actions

wow, I really doubt that'll happen

Ballenger is QB 2 right now anyway. Agree, jhawk, I wouldn’t of mind cody getting benched last game, but tonight it hasn’t really been his fault. He has missed a couple throws though…

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 6:53 PM MDT up reply actions

Vandy is beating Auburn

not sure if Vandy is good or Auburn was WAY overrated

14-13 with 4 47 left in the 4th on ESPN

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 6:56 PM MDT reply actions

Good comeback by KU today

hopefully CU can give them a good game next week (no FSN thakfully, ESPN2)

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 6:56 PM MDT reply actions

I think it's going to be a decent game...

KU is a different team at home than away…but they haven’t put together a full game all year and it’s going to bite them in the ass sooner or later and it was almost today. I think both teams come out next week with a bit of attitude and urgency after KU’s scare this week and CU’s current position against Texas.

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.

by Owen on Oct 4, 2008 6:58 PM MDT up reply actions

I think it'll be a close game

KU has a better offense and coaching, but they shouldn’t just physically dominate CU like Texas is doing. CU should have better athletes, doesn’t mean they’ll win though…

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 7:03 PM MDT up reply actions

I hate to say it but...

Texas is still on a different level than Kansas and CU they just have bigger, faster, stronger and better athletes.

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.

by Owen on Oct 4, 2008 7:05 PM MDT up reply actions

absolutely true

I don’t really believe all the recruiting ratings and stuff, but when you get 15 4 or 5 star recruites EVERY year you should be pretty good. Texas normally underachieves with the type of players they have

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 7:07 PM MDT up reply actions

I have a theory that typically...

players like that will underachieve while players with something to prove and haven’t been handed everything tend to work harder and overachieve…doesn’t mean I wouldn’t take a class of 15 4 or 5 Star players but it makes me feel better about our 3 and few 4’s if i tell myself this… =)

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.

by Owen on Oct 4, 2008 7:11 PM MDT up reply actions

well, good for Vandy, nice win

speaking of the 4 and 5 star players. Auburn probably has about 60 on their roster, Vandy probably has about 2. shows how much that means :-)

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 7:10 PM MDT reply actions

Supports my theory beautifully

HAHA, first play of the game touchdown Mizzou!

who are you rooting for jhawk, do you hate mizzou above all others?

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 7:15 PM MDT reply actions

Absolutely cheering for Nebraska tonight, sorry but...

I would prefer Mizzou lose forever…but they do deserve all the credit they get, they are a great team. Still doesn’t change the fact that when I see yellow and black it makes me about as mad as if you hold a red cape in front of a bull.

Mizzou up 7-0

by Owen on Oct 4, 2008 7:23 PM MDT reply actions

very impressive drive by the Huskers I might add...

but defense is definetly Mizzou’s weakness, the only problem is you almost have to score every time you get the ball and even the worst defenses get a stop every once in a while.

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.

by Owen on Oct 4, 2008 7:24 PM MDT up reply actions

true

but I will eat my hat if NU wins, no way they can keep up with mizzou. 55-21 I’ll say. I will post a fan post saying that “I love Nebraska” if they win.

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 7:28 PM MDT up reply actions

Oh I agree completely...

there is not a chance in hell that Nebraska will keep up.

finally

josh has a nice return

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 7:30 PM MDT reply actions

ok, back to CU

so, Scott is healthy now, right? but he has 2 CARRIES!! WTF is up with that?

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 7:33 PM MDT reply actions

I have no clue

He has looked like he has the burst tonight that I didn’t see yet this yr on teh long catch. But Hawkins isn’t getting him invovled AT ALL.

by roxbombers on Oct 4, 2008 7:34 PM MDT reply actions

The Scott thing is a bit puzzling...

he really hasn’t even had a chance to get into a groove with this team yet.

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.

by Owen on Oct 4, 2008 7:35 PM MDT up reply actions

totally

I have been really upset with our offensive play calling all year, it’s just that we’re starting to play real teams now, this crap is gonna work in conference games

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 7:37 PM MDT up reply actions

doesn't CU have

the lonest streak of “scoring points in a game” in the country? like 250 games or something? looks like that might end…

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 7:35 PM MDT reply actions

I hate to say this....but

it is time for a different QB. Hawkins is having a pass block at the line per series now and that is not acceptable.

by CleBUFFS on Oct 4, 2008 7:35 PM MDT reply actions

One of the downsides of a 5'11" QB

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.

by Owen on Oct 4, 2008 7:37 PM MDT up reply actions

Well don't sign me up just yet...

KU’s QB might reach 5’9" but the difference is he rarely gets under center and seems to have a pretty good knack for finding passing lanes.

I still do respect coach hawk

I really have to believe that he would make a change if he felt it would help the team win. I just don’t think our back-ups are that good. maybe hansen or one of the freshmen next year

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 7:41 PM MDT up reply actions

100% agree...

he is a stand up guy and I am sure the whole family is so I don’t doubt that if it was the right move everyone would take it in stride and I would bet Cody would be the new signal callers biggest fan.

yup

Cody is a classy guy as well I think. He knows he’ll never play in the pros, I doubt he would commit hari-kari if he lost the starting job. He wants to be a coach someday anyway

do you guys really think Scott would possibly transfer or is that just a bunch of talk

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.

by Owen on Oct 4, 2008 8:01 PM MDT up reply actions

I've been thinking that too

maybe there is more going on than what we the fans know of, but I totally believe he hasn’t been given a chance to really show what he can do. I pray he doesn’t transfer. I have heard nothing that would make me think we WOULD transfer, but let’s face it, he is getting no carries and a lightly recruited 5’7" guy and a scrub (sumler, no offense sumler) are getting more carries tonight

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 8:03 PM MDT up reply actions

I would be very dissapointed if he did...

and truthfully if he is a guy that responds to competition that way maybe that is best…but I don’t see it happening it will fall into place, some guys just make the adjustment quicker than others and no matter how many stars you have behind your name in high school it’s a clean slate in college and it’s about winning games.

so, is this game gonna F up our recruiting?

the RR dudes have been posting all the recruiting stuff for tonights game. I don’t think any of them are being recruited by texas as well, but this doesn’t show well

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 8:11 PM MDT reply actions

I don't think so...

I don’t think anyone has ever won or lost a recruit solely because the team lost when they visited. Texas is a very good team, top 5 in the country and those players know it. I think it’s more important for a recruit to feel like things are headed in the right direction.

Scott

I don’t know if you saw my comment earlier (I’m mostly lurking, so I’m sort of drive-by posting), but they said on KOA earlier that Scott had tweaked his ankle. Scott himself (I think—I doubt Johnson would have talked to a coach) said he wanted to go back in, but of course the player is going to say that. The trainers/coaches might have other ideas, especially with the game out of reach.

by holly96 on Oct 4, 2008 8:30 PM MDT up reply actions

it's hard to have a QB controversy based on somebody's play in garbage time

but he has looked good,. physically he is so superior and if he actually has a complete grasp of the offense he might be worth giving some snaps to

well, later rox

I’m gonna root on Mizzou now and watch a little baseball I think, have a good night

by nebraskasux on Oct 4, 2008 8:35 PM MDT reply actions

Okay

So I watched the game with several UT fans. Not only were some of them complete assholes, but their complete circle jerk regarding Colt McCoy was insane. I think they should have gotten together with the announcers and just put McCoy’s picture up on a wall, laid a mat down in front of it, and started bowing in unison. This love for this guy is getting ridiculous. I was originally all for hoping of r a good, hard-fought Red River Shootout, but after the intense sexual tension between UT fans and Colt McCoy, I just really hope someone on OU knocks the shit out of him and breaks him down a bit. I don’t want him to get hurt, just get his bell rung a bit and come back down the Earth so this talk of him being the Longhorn Jesus will subside already.

Man, I KNEW today was going to suck.
